Work from home?

 Work from home?
By TheAnswer1313 - 09-06-2012, 06:06 AM - Boxden > The Money Spot (finance/careers)

I was wondering if someone could give me some advice. My wife recently lost her job and we are falling behind with bills. I work a full time job but while my wife searches for another full time position, I was thinking about having another job on the side. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about working from home? Since my job is 8 to 4, I was hoping that I could find something that I could do at night from my house.

I was just wondering if anyone here has worked from home and if they could point me into the right direction.

Thanks. I'll check those out.

Do you have any more information? What exactly is a Google Rater? Is the test difficult?

Yes the test is sort of difficult, they can't physically interview you; so they give you a challenging test to weed out the bad apples, If you pass it though you'll have a decent part-time which you choose your own hours and get above average hourly wages.

If you study the 163 page guidelines book they give you, you should be OK.

If you half[..] it you will fail the initial 32 question test; if you miraculously pass it without studying, you will definitely fail the 150 question test right after it.

yeah go for it, you can be earning 15 a hr to just evaluate the content of pages while you browse on xvideo and boxden at the same time. :)

Basically Leapforce is a subcontractor of Google.

You will get a Query for example; Guns, then leapforce will feed you pages that fall into this Query that have content in them about Guns.

You will then rate the Relevancy of the content to the query? is it about guns? is it strong content and blah blah.

You can do this at any time as long as you just do 6 hours per week minimum, but if you choose to do 40 you can as well, you just log on and clock in, the reason i say study is not because is hard as in the content is hard to sum up.. is because if you fail 3 questions out of the 150 question exam they disqualify you.

Damn so you gotta get at least 148 questions correct or else u fail?

The job itself seems pretty easy.

How long does it take to get started? So if I signed up today, I[..]ume they give me the study materials and then I would be able to start as soon as I passed.

I applied and uploaded my resume they sent me a link to the online guidelines within 24 hours with the test due in 7 days, once you pass then you are free to begin work, I'm not doing too many hours as of right now probably 10 a week or so just above the 6 hr minimum, I just keep it on the side for now, do some rating here and there and listen to audio books at the same time to maintain productive. I'm self teaching myself web development and knowing what Google looks for and how they rate their content before anyone else is very helpful; since you will know about updates before most people.

If they hire you they will send you a email with all the information, starts off like this:

Welcome to the Search Engine Evaluator qualification exam! There are two parts to the exam, a theoretical component (Part I) and a practical component (Part II). You have seven days to complete BOTH parts.

one requirement is a degree or one in progress. i have one but not in this field...does it matter if we tweak our resumes.

I havent done mine yet but looking at the registration page I dont think you need to specify what field the degree is in. The drop down box just says things like college degree in progress,[..]ociate degree, bs, ms etc.

wow that was quick. Signed up to Leapforce and I can take the test between the 10th and 17th.

I[..]ume they give me the guidelines when I get the test.

So there's really no way to prepare beforehand?
