Help finding a job [Part 2]
By lifeundthescope - 11-24-2012, 06:02 PM - Boxden > The Money Spot (finance/careers)

Whats good yall, I made a thread in the streets about finding a entry-level position anywhere. I'm 20 with no work experience and can't get a job for the life of me, got a nice resume and sh-t. I have never had a interview or gotten any call backs. I don't know what to do anymore, I'm about to say fu-k it and just fu-k weed and go to school. The hardest thing about getting a "foot in the door" kind of job is getting the initial interview. Many companies do direct referrals, but other than that, you're playing with the odds when applying for positions. So with that said, if you're just applying for positions online, be sure to meet the position's basic qualifications, or your !! will be filtered out right away.

A mentor of mine once told me, "anything mean nothing." In other words, have a field of work in mind when searching for a job. Step your way out and check out those career fairs and speak with recruiters and temp agencies. When they see that kind of initiative, showing interest in a specific field of work rather than taking "any available position," they'll actually take time to check out your qualifications.

If you're not planning on going back to school, pick up a trade? [pic]
I ended up doing that after high school (under special circumstances). Took a couple years before I started making decent money but I know now I'll always be able to find a job. Paid off in the end.

Try Trader Joe's. Look on Craigslist, Backpage, and Register on the site Care.com.

Got Cheeve?
Look into becoming a police informant, after all, you already have some experience in that field.

Look jobs are out there at the entry level position you can't be very picky without any experience just apply everywhere getting a job at entry level is all about you applying you should apply for at least 15-20 jobs a day. Always keep checking Craigslist sometimes new places will need people and they are willing to hire anybody not the best places to work for but its money. Also, check with your community college/university a lot of places call center, retail places, use college kids as a hiring bank. When it comes to a job it's has very little to do with the economy and more to do with how hard you are out there grinding to get a job.

It's the fastest way to get a job, but they might not be the best or pay the best. [pic]

Indeed.com has the most job listings for entry levels positions. Also, Craigslist, check that !! everyday. Places that are hire niccas on craigslist are desperate as !! most likely and will surely give you a shot.

Craigslist, I tend to see more small and/or privately owned companies post positions. I DEFINITELY wouldn't look down on Craiglist with the amount of scams and/or low pay. It really depends on the job you're looking for, even at the entry-level.

Other have mentioned the other major job sites: Indeed, SimplyHired, and Monster. All legit. Be sure to spread a general resume throughout those job sites. The more experience you have, the more companies will call YOU about positions they need to fill.

Craigslist though has easily been the best online site where I hit some interviews with some small, but top-notched engineering firms.

Lol I wouldn't go that far. I've seen legit contacting position that pay near $50 an hour. I'd jump on it myself if I had the experience...

Easy, yes. But horrible pay at the lower level.
