has been my savior for years. i monitor any and all changes in my equifax report since it is the most used report and then i get my other reports too and i can dispute right on the website. FYI....Equifax will run multiple files with tons of incorrect information in a heart beat. Prepare for a long hard battle if this is the case.
Which one did you chose on that site?

i did all three so i know who has what what what to dispute. for a discount, use promo code 1105score to get 15% off of any item you purchase for the year of 2006. they have a new code every year and they always give me a heads up

Alright good looking out!!!

This company called MRS contacted me saying I had to pay my card off to a certain amount. But I said I'll pay them half now and half next month and they said I had to pay the entire ending balance. I was thinking just saying fu(k and then pay it off later. What do you think???

negotiate a payment plan with them on a settlement. if you can pay a lump sum at one time, make sure you get a settlement which is usually minus extra service fees. most will agree to do a set of 3-6 checks by phone to guarantee a payment plan but don't default on a payment plan or they may add all your fees back. if you wait to pay it later, one of two things may happen....

The account could get lost in the system so to speak and a dispute will have it deleted from your report
or
The collection agency will maintain great records, report you monthly, and you have 7 years bad luck.

How do I get a copy of my credit report? I see these ads online for like 39.99 and stuff, but isn't there a way to get my credit report for free?

You could apply for something and get it from there.

no. apply for credit and getting turned down does not allow that company to give you the credit report they pulled. however, i does entitle you to a free report from the credit agency. by law, the person pulling your credit is not supposed to give you that information.

Alright I got a BIG question. First of all, thank you so much for this thread. I'm about 5 thousand dollars in debt right now which isnt that bad. But I currently dont have the money to pay everything off. I decided to try and knock off as much as I can from my credit reports before I start paying it off. I pulled my credit report on experian and they have my wrong date of birth. Can this help me in any way? Can I say that this debt does not belong to me. I would really appriciate some help on using this mistake to my advantage...legally! Thanks again.

You can fight some of the stuff if they have the incorrect information

if your credit report lists the wrong Bday but your creditors have the right one, you might be out of luck. if the creditor had the wrong one period, you can fight that one, unless they have your signature on file. if they have your signature and you dispute, you might be in a world of hurt. i wouldnt dispute it unless its over 5 years old.

well my 30 days is up in 3 days and only 2 of the 9 creditors have replied does this REALLY mean I would not have to worry about them any more. What would I have to do after the 30 days to get them off my credit report

Yeah, my friend works for the Bank of America and she said you should never settle on one payment just pay off the entire thing. Because if you settle for less of the payment they will count it as not finished out.

For example if you owe 1000 on a credit card don't settle for the 600. Because it will just be considered closed out.

You can settle on your behalf.. dont settle on thiers.. It really doesnt matter which way you do it acutally but if you do it on your terms you can adjust it to how much you want to pay.. example
I have a bill for $734 .. The company sent me a letter saying they will settle for 556 or somethign like that. I sent them a letter and told them that i will settle for half. which is 367. they can either dismiss it or take it.. in which. I havnt paid them any money before so if im trying to give them money, most companies will take your offer. then just have them give you a recipt of Paid in full for you to fax to the CRA. then they will remove it. or adjust it accoringly
