Who bought up as much stock as they could yesterday?

Bought MDSO at 20 n change on thursday bout to sell it soon
Bought apple at 516 yesterday
bought AINV at 6.80
Bought OXF at 6.80
Bought Sprint

Spit some game, I've been looking into investing and want to know where to get my feet wet.

best advice i can give you is dont go in with too much money to fast. Youll probably lose money at first. Theb you best bet is coming up with a strategy. I usually buy near 52 week lows if i see strong financial data on a company. 52 week lows usually jump nicely MDSO made me decent profit in 2 days i made about $5 per share n sold it off.

Do you want to be a longterm investor or day trade?

I also like to be in multiple things which usually helps me keep gaining daily. If tech is down i can make money in pharm

Nah, I don't have a broker, but I work in an investment bank. A lot of sites have 52 week lows, but you want to make sure that the stocks are worth while. Earning per share is good, Market cap everyone looks at different numbers. What I would do is before I invest is pick some stocks I like then just watch them and write down the numbers you would've bought them at. Pick about 5-10 stocks. Than at the weeks end look at the stock value and see where its at and do it for about a month. Then calculate how much you would've made if you invested in it.

To your last question I usually play it pretty safe and try to manage my risk. So Ill have 2 or 3 volatile stocks (which just means they move a lot) then 5 strong stocks like apple, honeywell, jnj stuff like that. I try to make $10-$15 a day right now. Which doesnt sound like a lot, but it is. Especially when Im not really investing a ton of money. Once I finish school Ill play around with more money.

if you're gonna play with a couple hundred or couple thousand dollars I wouldn't have a broker. You can do it yourself, its cheaper to even just pay someone for their stock picks. They'll tell you what to buy and when. You'll should see good gains off that and won't have to spend a lot of time researching if you don't want to. It all depends what you want to do though. Do you want short term gains or long term stocks that will appreciate over years?

Especially if your goal is long term investing. You could pay someone $25 or so they'll do all the research and tell you some good stocks to buy

nah I wanna do the day to day trading like you were talking about. long term I can make my big money work for me. I want something to flip small money. prolly start w like a G

If you want to know which stocks you're watching are trading near 52 week high's, pull up a chart on Yahoo/Google finance. If you're day trading, you'll need to know your entry and exit points. Rique pretty much laid it down for you but it's the smaller things that matter too. Gotta have a lot of patience.

Yeah, or you can do a simple screen for stocks near 52 week lows/highs.

No prob. The quotes are delayed on the free version, and the charts are basic. I found a way around it after paying for one month ...

^^^ That's the custom chart I use now. Just right click on the chart to see the full link. And change the ticker in the URL to whatever stock you want. You'll get real time quotes then for free. Not streaming unfortunately, but still a nice way around it.

Change it where it says "t=IBM&ty" ...just change IBM

What makes you think markets will be down tomorrow?

And, o7...that ADX indicator that you use, you know the length that's 14 days? Would it be wise to change that to 5 since I trade daily? Would keeping it at default (14) lag when I'm using the 5 SMA?

XCO looks good here, looks like the bottom is in for now. Could head back up towards $8.

I really don't focus on the ADX too much, so I just use the default 14. I guess if use the 5 ma then yeah change it.

I only use 20, 50, 100, and 200 ma's though. And I only use ADX to spot pinch plays.
