Well first thing is that you need you H2S certificate. Oil companies won't even look at you if you don't have that. H2S certificate is a one day course at enform probably a couple hundred maybe less I don't know for sure.
H2S certificate is All you really need. It's a poisonous gas and the class just tells you what to do in an emergency blah blah.
Enform is located in NISKU ALBERTA about an hour away from edmonton. This is also where all the big oil company offices are so after you do the course hand in your resume to all the companies there ( they are five minutes away from each other at the most). They'll interview you right away and may even offer you a job on the spot which is what happened to me after handing resumes to a few places. if not keep calling because people get fired quit everyday.
Also having your own vehicle plays a big part as well as most camp jobs (where they fly you in and out, dont have to pay for meals or rides) are scarce. But they are still available its just that non-camp jobs are all over.
