A bevy of rumors and reports about HTC’s upcoming flagship device have emerged over the last few days. We are now pretty sure that the device will be marketed as HTC One, instead of M7, but that doesn’t mean that we all approve of the choice.

Minutes ago, Twitter user @evleaks, acknowledged as an insider when it comes to HTC, has produced what appears to be a press shot of the HTC One.

At first glance, the image (or possibly render) is identical with the render that emerged last month, courtesy of the same source. We’ve superimposed the two images, and all the details appear to be identical. However, the new image features some specular reflections, suggesting that it’s a photo rather than a render. But that can easily be faked.

What makes this image special is the fact that the alleged HTC One features just two buttons, Back and Home. The Home button is repositioned on the right-hand side of the device, with a prominent HTC logo separating it from the Back button.

The user interface seems in line with screenshots of Sense 5 that have leaked a while ago, although that doesn’t mean much in the age of Photoshop. Rather interestingly, the image features what appears to be a Facebook widget.

The dual speakers grills are quite conspicuous, and we could speculate that a stereo speakers setup would play well with HTC’s ambition to deliver a “new sound and camera experience”.

Finally, the device in the image appears to sport a metallic case. Rumors from last year suggest that HTC is going for an aluminum or alloy unibody design.

On the flip side, we have to note that this render doesn’t fit another set of images that we’ve seen, which are supposed to show the housing of the HTC One.

Regardless of the authenticity of this latest alleged HTC One image, we’ll meet the real deal in a little over a week. Stay tuned and get up to speed with everything HTC One from our rumor roundup.

It's supposed to come in 32GB and 64GB models in the US with a $100 difference between each. No word yet on MicroSD. The 64GB on my One X+ is plenty without a MicroSD.
