Is there any way to take an iPhone 4S out of recovery mode without restoring?
topic by Gadd - 12-17-2011, 01:07 AM

My iPhone 4S went into recovery mode mysteriously (fu*king 4S has been fu*king up more than my 4 > Is there any way to take an iPhone 4S out of recovery mode without restoring? - Photo posted in BX Tech | Sign in and leave a comment below!). Is there any way to get it back on without restoring? I haven't synced with iTunes in a while and I had videos on there that I really need. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hold power and home button for like 20 seconds an if that doesn't work download tinyumbrella and it will have a tab that says exit recovery or something like that

I already tried Tinyumbrella and I guess it doesn't work on a 4S because that didn't work for me. Thanks tho, let me know if you know any other methods. I'm trying RecBoot right now and it doesn't seem to be working either

And holding both the buttons didn't work either, tried that like 50 times :(

What comes up when you do that? Is it at a black screen? Or connect to iTunes? Your last resort might to restore it or take it to apple an they will fix it for free..

Just a black screen

When I have it connected and I open iTunes, iTunes gives me a message saying the phone is in recovery mode and must be restored, but nothing ever comes up on the iphone screen

How did it get to recovery mode? Try holding the power button for 5-10 seconds then start holding the home button while holding the power button and see if it will kick it out.. If not I would just restore it :/ I'll see if I can find a program where you will be able to get the videos off of it

Do you have a Mac? I found this:

The one part I'm confused with is this though:

Open a new Terminal window and navigate to the directory that the iRecovery for Mac utility was extracted to.

How do I change the directory to where the iRecovery utility is?

My 4S has been randomly shutting off (this is the 5th time in 2 weeks its done this). Usually all it takes is holding the home and top buttons and it's back to normal, but this time it went into recovery mode.

No luck with holding the power button then the home button
