iPhone 5 Has Already Been Jailbroken

It has been less than 24 hours since Apple's new iPhone 5 went on sale and iOS jailbreak developer Grant Paul a.k.a chpwn has posted a screenshot of iPhone 5's taller Home screen with Cydia installed on it.

Few minutes back he tweeted:

Taller screens like Cydia too. :) Twitter / chpwn: Taller screens like Cydia too. ...

He later confirmed that it is indeed jailbroken.

This is good news for jailbreakers as it also implies that iOS 6 can be jailbroken on the newer iOS devices. Currently it is possible to only jailbreak iPhone 3GS and A4-based iOS devices such as iPhone 4 and iPad 2.

It is not clear if the issues with Cydia and fundamental modules like PreferenceLoader have been fixed.

It is impressive that Grant has managed to jailbreak iPhone 5 on the day of its launch, we must admit that based on the status of the iOS 6 jailbreak, we were least expecting it.

Grant has developed popular jailbreak tweaks such as Zephyr.

what can jailbreaks do?

Can you get paid apps for free? Wont Apple block you if you do that or won't the App try to authorise itself and not work?

I aint never had an iphone because the way Apple lock !! down.

Can you play divx, xvid, avi, mkv on jailbroken iphone?

This, I'm not updating non of my devices to IOS 6 until an Unthetered jailbreak is released.

there is still Google Maps app on iOS 6 right!?
also if I Tether jailbreak iOS 6 on iPhone 4,
does that mean my phone wont start unless
its hooked up to my PC and I press 'Just Boot'?
or Cydia just doesnt show up when I re-boot?

it has to be hooked up to the pc if you reboot.

If you reboot without tether , then your Cydia Jailbreak apps will not work . The phone will still function .

iphone 5 coming monday

iphone 4 jailbroken and still on 5.0.1

will jailbreak immediately. cant go without BiteSMS
