yup, Apple don't really be doing "sales" ... just like the designer industry.

On the other hand, I'd compare Android to your local GAP.

if u buy from best buy u get a gift card last year i bought a macbook pro from them and got a 150 gift card got my iPhone 4 on the low with that

if you buy your apple from their site with the edu discount, you save 5-10% (depending on the model currently), and pay 0% tax.

the tax on a normal spec'd 15" macbook pro ($2000) in california is almost 200 bucks.

saving $200 off retail price, and nearly $200 on tax > $150 dollar gift card.
