HTC’s upcoming 5-inch, 1080p superphone reaffirmed ahead of fall release

BGR exclusively reported this past April that HTC (2498) will be the star of Verizon Wireless’s (VZ) fall lineup thanks to a new 5-inch superphone with a 1080p high-definition display, Scribe stylus support and a quad-core Krait CPU paired with an Adreno 320 graphics processor. Now, citing unnamed industry sources, Digitimes on Monday reported that HTC plans to launch a smartphone with a “5-inch display featuring a resolution of 1794 by 1080 pixels” some time in either September or October. The ma#sive HD handset could be just what HTC needs to finish the year strong after a rough second quarter and continued struggles in the third quarter, but it’ll certainly have some stiff competition from the Galaxy S III, the upcoming Galaxy Note II and Apple’s (AAPL) next-generation iPhone, which will be announced on September 12th.

This would definitely give HTC the most powerful phone. New adreno GPU and quad core krait wipes the floor with every phone out there, including the quad core exynos. This could definitely help HTC. They really should release the phone on more carriers than Verizon though. HTC is just not learning that carrier specific phones are a thing of the past.

Oh its a wrap. HTC could come out on top again with the top smartphone like they did when the first evo came out.

They can definitely recover if this phone ends up having good build quality and excellent battery life. Android buyers will look past HTC's bad reputation if the reviews end up being excellent. A little bit of marketing will also help them. They really need to release this phone on all the major carriers though.

phone internal specs sound sweet, but niccas gonna look straight foolish with a 5" smartphone. thats too big, imo.

Gonna have to come out on more then just 1 carrier tho. Samsung showed & proved that multi-carriers on the !! that you already pouring !!loads of advertising bucks on is gonna generate more sales if... the people seeing it happens to be on a carrier that can cop the phone. Apple broke & ran with said formula as well as soon as they was able to free away from AT&T exclusivity.

Besides that, Verizon is polarizing as fuk, dopest coverage but the sh!ttiest support for devices having even a Nexus phone running behind on updates that everybody else with same phone on other carriers is already comfy with.
