HTC not bundling Beats heaphones anymore
By Tiko377 - 04-09-2012, 08:28 AM - Boxden > BX Tech

In a move that shouldn't surprise anyone, HTC won't be bundling Beats headphones with it's devices anymore. Ever since HTC announced their partnership with Beats they've been talking up the benefits, namely better sound quality from your handset. Regardless of whether or not you agree that the sound quality was actually better, the fact that you got some pretty decent earbuds with your phone was a major plus. Everything you needed to have great sound was included in the box. Apparently HTC realized that people don't buy phones based on what buds are included in the box.

Now that won't be the case, and it probably has more to do with Beats than with HTC. It may or may not be common knowledge, but Monster was the manufacturer of Beats headphones. We say was because the partnership has ended, which leaves Beats without a manufacturer. So even if HTC wants to continue to include the buds, they can't, because Beats can't supply them anymore.

the writer of the article apparently has no business experience. HTC was targeting a specific market by bundling the beats headphones with their Rezound. if you dont know which specific target market that is then you dont have any idea either.

by bundling beats headphones, HTC would target those who use their phones as MP3 players, music enthusiasts, the younger crowd, etc...

you walk into verizon and are having trouble deciding between the rezound and the razr, (a#suming you want to use your phone as an MP3 player) you would choose the rezound since you wouldnt have to deal with the razr's !!ty headphones.

those are marketing techniques that all businesses use. some are more successful than others at this.

another example would be volvo showing a family driving their cars in a commercial. volvo would be targeting the families to purchase their cars as opposed to racers.

But what's stopping that same person from purchasing the RAZR as an MP3 player and then buying his own headphones? Then he can have a good phone AND good sound, whereas if he buys the Rezound bundled with the Beats headphones he will get a worse phone and good sound?

Am I missing something here? The beats headphones aren't going to come FREE with the Rezound, right? It's just going to be cheaper than if you purchased the headphones alone, right?

the rezound is a better phone, spec wise, than the RAZR. also, the consumer would be saving 150 dollars by purchasing the rezound, as opposed to purchasing a RAZR and beats headphones separately.

EDIT: the headphones ARE free with the rezound. they come inside the box. and considering how the rezound was on sale for 50 dollars the other day, i would say that is a steal.
