HTC Lost: HTC One Is The First Smartphone To Score 1/10 On Repairability From iFixit
topic by Jago - 03-28-2013, 09:10 PM

The HTC One is one of the prettier phones we've seen in a while. It's got a shiny new aluminum unibody design, and looks great. According to iFixit, the aluminum unibody should also make the HTC One more durable. The trouble is that the One is apparently not designed to be opened at all, and scored a 1 out of 10 on repairability by iFixit, which is a score no other smartphone has ever received.

According to iFixit, it's basically a fool's mission if you want to open up your HTC One. iFixit says that it is nearly impossible to open the device without damaging the rear case, but the display can't be replaced without removing the rear case, making it nearly impossible to replace a cracked display by yourself. Additionally, a big problem seems to be copper shielding, which covers the motherboard, rear camera, and more.

iFixit says that copper shielding has benefits for dissipating heat and providing electrical grounding, but it "is a pain to deal with during reassembly—kind of like trying to straighten out aluminum foil once it's been crinkled."

So, if you're someone who likes to do your own repairs on a broken smartphone, the HTC One probably isn't the device for you. Of course, if you don't care about that, you may well find the HTC One to be quite a nice device, as we stated in our review.

How htc lost. Its a known fact that htc it uses a unibody and took their time to design the best looking smartphone. Gs4 hands on bi*ch how the gs4 feels cheaply made.

I only owned 1 htc phone which was the evo lte.

I own the original droid when you had that piece of sh*t Samsung Moment.

I own the motorla droid, epic 4g, evo 4g lte and optimus g. I don't give a sh*t about brand loyalty hence why I own diffent oem. I am a fan of android.

But in android tabs I take asus over all and its not even close.

Again I.don't see how htc lost with it being almost impossible to repair like we don't have warrenty and insurance and I doubt any of y'all will repair your phone. All reviews says that galaxy s4 feeling cheap. Samsung git better inside and software but the design has been uninspiring since gs2.

While you are d!ck riding samsung I'm here changing oem every year because at the end of the day I change the whole ui to my liking and take out all the sh*tty bloatware these oem be putting including samsung. The funny thing is these samsung sheeps are just as bad as the iphone sheeps.
