The Galaxy S III is a huge hit, but usage in the U.S. still lags way behind iPhone

While the Galaxy S III is helping Samsung (005930) grow its presence on the mobile web, the company is still well behind Apple (AAPL) when it comes to usage. Mobile ad firm Chitika has released new numbers showing that the Galaxy S III’s share of overall Samsung ad impressions in North America has risen significantly since its initial release, jumping from less than 3% on June 18th to over 11% on August 6th.

Chitika says that the Galaxy S III “has quickly surpassed the Galaxy Nexus in activity, and is hot on the tails of other Galaxy S models” and “is likely that adoption of the device will continue to increase in the future as the holiday season approaches and Android aficionados upgrade their phones.”

But even with the surge in Galaxy S III mobile Web use, Samsung as a whole still only generates roughly one-fourth as many mobile ad impressions in North America as Apple does with its[..]orted iPhone models. Despite this disparity, Chitika says that Samsung remains “the iPhone’s closest challenger for the coveted top spot” in mobile ad impressions, and says the companies’ rivalry will be “one of the most intriguing contests in the smartphone market this year.”

man I really think the iphone 5 is gonna do some serious numbers and if the upgrades are major then most people will forget about the S3 and it will be iphone season all over again, also im thinking that apple might make the iphone 4 free for new customers since it will be 2.5 years old and that !! right there will sell like hotcakes

Just keep the phone in good shape, unlock it, and sell it for 400-600 when the new phone comes out. As long you are happy with your carrier the contract isn't a issue.

I think Apple putting the spin on this. Once the Note 2 and the Nexus 2 drop, Apple is gonna be done son. The S3 was just the beginning.

I say this allthe time, phones are personal. What I use my phone for you might not use your phone for. Therefore I don't think you can compare.

I know the Galaxy S3 is a better phone than the HTC evo/one X but I sill prefer the evo for few reasons.

It has FM radio
I think that it has a better GPS antenna
It has a "reply to all" option for text message which lets me talk to my imessage friends in groups text

If the iphone is the best phone for you then get it if an Android phone is best for you then get one.

I know people who don't even use the 4g on their phones I use mine everyday. I live in NYC where I take the train a lot and iphone maps doesn't have train times or route so I prefer android phones which do.
Also Iphones don't let you download mixtape from offline most of the time I download mixtapes while at work unzip them and listen to them all from my phone. If I had an Iphone I couldn't do it.

was an iphone user for 4 years and switched to the note a few months back... very happy with the choice and i aint never going back to the iphone.

He probably didn't play with the gs3.. But he's right on everything else. It's all about preference

the iphone will never be done, it has a legion of fans and I will bet money that the iphone 5 will get record sales and destroy the note and galaxy combined in sales just watch and see.

im waiting to see when sprint lte comes to miami, im not sure if anyone can confirm if that will give sprint a better reception as well or am i just wasting time. and it looks to be around december i think.

They say early January for sprint lte also coverage depends on your area with sprint unfortunately in my area sprint hasn't failed yet
