to 3G or not to 3G?? (iphone related)

planning to buy an unlocked 16GB iphone 1.1.4 for a good deal....should I wait for the next "3G" iphone coming out or stick with the current one

It's all up to your preference. I just got the 16 gig last week and i'm loving it. The edge internet is still pretty quick, and it's a cell phone, how serious as you about getting things that quick on 3g? If thats a big deal for you, then you should wait. But after i read your thread again if you're buying it unlocked you gonna use it on t-mo or something other than ATT? I don't know if it makes a difference, but with the 3g even work on another network? Or would you be using the internet access that your wireless provider has?

i live in the north (Canada) so here we use Rogers or Fido. I might just cop the iphone 16gb

Like Chea said, it's all dependent upon your own personal preference. But, you have to know that 3G is a battery k!ller, not just in the iPhone, but in every phone. And Chea, 3G won't work with a service provider that doesn't have a 3G network. You would still have to use the internet from your service provider.

^^^ Word.. I didn't think that 3G would work on another network. You might as well just get the one now and since you plan on having it unlocked things like MMS programs won't be a problem for you. But the edge is good, and i didn't even think about the battery life.
I'll charge my 16 gig and take it off the cradle on a Saturday Morning, and I don't have to charge it til Tuesday Morning. With pretty normal phone/web use. I'm not sure how the 3g compares to that, but i was pretty happy with that battery life.
