Laguna Beach entrepreneurs Ben (Johnson), a peaceful and charitable Buddhist, and his closest friend Chon (Kitsch), a former Navy SEAL and ex-mercenary, run a lucrative, homegrown industry—raising some of the best marijuana ever developed. They also share a one-of-a-kind love with the extraordinary beauty Ophelia (Lively). Life is idyllic in their Southern California town...until the Mexican Baja Cartel decides to move in and demands that the trio partners with them.

Had I already not known about the sharing thing from the novel I'd think it was weird too. 3/5.

The whole part of the two main characters sharing a girl is a bit weird, I mean sloppy seconds all throughout the movie, really made the female look like achick. Salma Hayek was banging in this one! Though she had on that wig she still shows that she still got it.

If you're into action and somewhat comedy, some part were funny as hell to me, then this movie is right up your alley. It got some !!ed up moments in it too, like torture moments and wouldn't be good for the weak stomach people. This movie kinda of reminded me of the movie "." The ending wasn't all too great, kinda of cliche a little bit in my opinion.

iMDB rates it a 6.8/10 which is above average, I give it for 4. It's worth seeing, oh and btw it's a long[..] movie, like 2hrs. [pic]

The movie is pretty much about Ben and Chon, who are like known for selling the best pot around, trying to get out of the business but encounter Elena who's trying to get them to work with her. They refuse Elena's offer and she captures their girlfriend O... anyways.. the ending goes..

Chon and Ben captured Elena's daughter and tried to make a trade for O at some remote area. After they make the trade Elena asks Chon who was the snitch and Chon smiled and look at Lado. Elena then turned around, pulled out her gun and tried to shoot Lado but Lado shot her in the chest and said "You should've !!ed me" and then shot her again. After that then they had a big gun fight, Ben get's shot in the neck and O tries to save him but there's nothing she can do, Chon, he already got shot, pulls out some needle and sticks it into Ben and then O says "I don't want to leave him" then Chon sticks O with the needles and then himself. The camera pans out and you see all 3 of them lying there dead.

But that's not the real ending, it was more like a what could've happened.. what really happened..

Pretty much the same setup at the remote area, but Ben asks Elena to call off her snipers and she tells Lado to do it. Lado makes like a smirk on his face and walks to the SUV, turns it on, waves to Elena and drives off leaving her stranded. As soon as this happened the feds drop in and captures everybody. Elena gets 30yrs in prison and Ben and Chon get like 3wks in jail (I forgot the exact number). After jail they move to an island in Indonesia, end of the movie.

The 2 dudes banging 1 chick was weird as !!. Hayek is a godness I promise shes perfect. Lado was crazy as !!. 3/5

actually saw this flick twice...I liked it and oliver stone didn't let me down any....except for the ending he should of just left it romeo and juliet style with em all dying....I mean whats the last movie you've seen where the lead characters died at the end...Im thinkn Perfect Storm w Clooney and Marky Mark and then Denzel died on MAN ON FIRE and BOOK OF ELI....but man should of left em dead

Great movies, stuck close to the book which is amazing, except for the changed ending.. Sad to see it ended that way, it would of been way better with the OG ending.. But its Hollywood and they love sequels..
