Problem You Want To Avoid When Buying Used

I'm looking into buying a used car for work. I don't have much money, but I need a car for this job and I need this job for experience in my field(I graduate next year).

I was wondering, which tips would you give to used car buyers like myself. What types of problems would you avoid at all costs. Me, myself, I'm looking into buying a car around $1500 as I don't want a car note and I need the car ASAP.

Also, what are some of the first things you should do when you buy a used car such as tuneup, oil change, etc.?

Usually some type of warranty but honestly for 1500 you wont find a car with a warranty....the best I can think of is....

Drive the car and park it somewhere on some "white" concrete, that way you can check to make sure its not leaking oil/any other fluid.

Open the hood, make sure the engine isnt doing a harlem shake when its idle

Test drive the car with the windows down and music off, you need to hear/feel everything the car does


If I would've done this when I bought my car in 2006 I could've saved myself 8700, now I'm stuck with an Impala with multiple problems....
