Kicker VS Rockford Subs

 Kicker VS Rockford Subs
topic by JustinSane - 05-23-2007, 01:59 AM - Boxden > Whipz 'n Stereos (vehicles, sound systems)

I just bought the Kicker ZX750.1 and was just thinking about maybe upgrading my subs. Right now I'm running two P2 Rockfords 12" and haven't even tried them with the new amp. I was thinking about maybe matching the new amp with new Kicker subs. What do you guys think about the KICKER 07CVR124 in comparison to the P2's? Should I just leave the P2's in there or would I notice a big difference with the Kickers?

^^ What he said.

I never liked Fosgate subs, mainly because they're all hype. They don't get that loud and they don't even sound that good. Kicker subs don't have great SQ, but they sound a lot better than Fosgate.

I've been using my Kicker CVR's for a couple years now. Good solid subs if you're wanting loud, cheap bass. Install them properly with good power, you'll be more satisfied with them than your P2's.

Hmmm now you have me thinking. Me personally, when I think of kicker I think of their baric lines. When I saw these subs I was like "Blah those are the entry #### that Visions sells" but then I took a look at the wattage compared to my p2s and thought maybe I should give it a go. Do you think that the amp I just bought has the power to power them without any issues?

How much more bang do you think I would notice? On paper it should put out double the power, but do you think if I put these in with that amp in my other post that I would be thinking "Oh damn that blows the P2s out of the water

From personal experience the CVR's will have better output, if you install them properly. (Custom enclosure, not prefab) They sound good in both ported and sealed. I have mine in a sealed, ~1.7cf per chamber.

If you're going to use that amp, make sure you get the Dual 2ohm subs, not dual 4ohm. 2 dual 2ohm subs will give you a 2ohm load, which will give you the most power from that amp. 750rms @ 2ohms. I'm only giving mine 787rms and they're loud. I know they can take a lot more. Probably the most I would give them is 1200rms, with the gains set correctly.

Well i can't speak on it now but back in the day it was kicker. The first punch subs were supposed to be rivaled by the Kicker Competitions. I could honestly say the Kickers sounded much better but this was only in a sealed enclosure. Until now, i've always gone sealed. I hear good things from both but from past experience back in the day, i'd say Kicker all day

I don't know why, but I keep coming back to the idea of doing this. Mostly because the equipment I ordered is being shipped down to a shop in the states to avoid shipping fee's, and that being said, everything needs to arrive before I get there. Do you guys really think that two of the CVR's would really make that big of a difference over the p2s?
