easiest car to work on?

 easiest car to work on?
topic by TAY FLOWZ - 03-04-2008, 07:51 PM - Boxden > Whipz 'n Stereos (vehicles, sound systems)

i currently have a auto sunfire, which is garbage. im going to get another car (manual) and keep it clean and lightly modify it. whats a good car (which will include engine type) thats easy to maintain mostly by yourself. im looking for a car that is easy to reach parts. i know there's some things that will always be hard to do on anycar, but as far as basic to medium level maintenance would be straight forward. im not tryna race or drag anything i just want to find a car i can maintain and lighty customize. any help?

and if you have an older sohc engine, whole new engines can be bought for $400-$500

Older mid to late 90's Honda Accords and Civics, same with Nissan Maximas,Altimas and Sentras.Pretty much any import that is marketed as a compact coupe or sedan during that time period.Parts for these type of cars are cheap and especially for the Hondas of that day inexpensive and can be found anywhere cheaply.

Lightly modded Mustang GT's are also pretty easy to work on and cheap parts are everywhere from Craigslist to Pony messageboards to full out catalogs.I am talking about the 94-98 and 99-04's.

Old mustang GTs, older hondas, older nissans, older mitsubishis. Pretty much any of the older cars (pre 2000) are typically way easier to work on compared to newer cars....with the exceptions of retard cars like the 3000GT VR4...the 6G72TT leaves practically no space in the engine bay, have fun with cars like that :p .

If you really want a Caprice with a manual. You can get a T-56 manual transmission kit and it will turn your Caprice into a manual. If you only spend 900 dollars on the car, you'll have money left over to experiment a little.

If you want a car that's easy to work on, then I really don't think you should be looking into swapping the trans on a car.
