I'm still trying to figure out, just what the !! is the point of a 4 series? [pic]

It's so BMW can price the the car at a premium and differentiate it from a 3 series.

But what is the POINT??? There is no reason for the car to exist, imo. What gap in their lineup is this supposed to fill? A 4 series should be somewhat better than a 3 series, yet still not quite as great as a 5. I don't really see where this car fits in at.

The 4-Series is simply the new name for the 3-Series Coupe / Convertible. The next 1-Series Coupe / Convertible will be taking on the 2-Series name. With the 5 door (and I'm[..]uming the 3-door) keeping the 1-Series name. If you didn't already know, the 6-Series Coupe has always been based on the 5-Series sedan, making it basically a 5-Series Coupe but it has never carried the name. So they are basically trying to match the naming schemes across the BMW lineup.

Odd = Sedan (1, 3, 5, 7)
Even = Coupe/Convertible (2, 4, 6)

Ummm...no. The coupe has always started at a higher MSRP anyway.

Thank you for clarifying that. Never really considered that about the 6 being based on the 5...but it makes perfect sense.

I wish everyone addressed questions like you instead of inserting their bias or issuing opinions.
