I don't get that...
Word. I've never seen Ed Wood to judge whether Landau earned it over him, but to me he was the most important character in Pulp Fiction. The end scene in the diner is in my top 10 favorite scenes of all time. I even have a Bad Mother !!er wallet... And if not him it should have gone to Pvt. Dan (Gary Sinise).

Are you out your !!ing mind? A Clockwork Orange is one of the top 3 best directed movies of all time, let me rephrase that...it didn't win anything NOT EVEN BEST DIRECTOR...just nothing of course it deserved at least 5 oscars.
you !!in moron, i thought goodfellas lost against silence of the lambs, not against dww, i thought sol was great to, but lets say i compaired the two, i think goodfellas is a better movie

Scorcese not winning until The Departed is beyond ridiculous.

1997: The English Patient (should have gone to Fargo)

1991: Goodfellas >>>> Dances With Wolves

I agree with these, Goodfellas was a bigger robbery to me because 76 had some good flicks, 1990 was just a weak year. Also Pulp Fiction deserved it but Samuel didn't he isn't what made that movie none of the horrible actors/actresses did it was the direction and dialogue.

You thought the acting in Pulp Fiction was bad? I don't think it was out of this world, but it was definitely good. Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson I thought were good. Ving Rhames sucked.

but I agree with the person that said the Oscars are just a popularity contest. Rarely do the actual "Best performances" get awarded. Most of the time the people who actually deserve the award will get beat out by whoever the people who vote think will look good holding an Oscar at the moment.

Oh and to add to the Oscars lack of credibility... It's fairly racist...Spike Lee nor ne other black director has ever won an Oscar, John Singleton was the first to be nominated in 1992 I don't know if any black director has been nominated since. And only about 9 black actors have won an Oscar out of the 9 only 5 won for lead roles (Sidney Poitier, Denzel, Jamie, Forrest Whitaker and Halle) the only time black actors seem to win is for "supporting" roles. Not that it matters but that's just some !! I felt like sharin just in case yall aint know.

The whole cast was trash, Samuel L, John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis, Ving Rhames, Tarantino, the best actor there was Christopher Walken and he had no lines at all Harvey Keitel is good but played a typical role here.

None of them deserved it, the only reason people like Halle and Denzel win is to shut up people like you. [pic] Sorry but truth is the best black performance usually isn't the best, when it comes to movies that race card !! doesn't fly because the best actors are usually not black. Only year I would have gave it was to Denzel in 1989 (Glory) his only good movie.

You "racist" cry babies can attack me now for insulting your leader.

are you crazy [pic]?? That's easily my favorite Samuel L performance of all time and he's had some great roles (and of course a bunch of !!ty roles inbetween... I seriously think he'll take any role offered to him no matter how crap the script is). Uma was pretty good. It was Travolta's big comeback.. Bruce held his own. There was nothing terrible about the acting. at least not in my opinion.

I won't deny it was probably the best movie for all the actors in it. (except for Walken and Keitel of course) but that isn't saying much considering their body of work. Seriously without Tarantino's dialogue and direction this movie isn't a classic at all, There was no real stand out actor in this movie.

All I have to say about Samuel L is that screaming and overreacting your lines doesn't make you a good actor, I bet you don't even know he was in Goodfellas because the cast was too great to even care about him. [pic]

This is funny, my brother and I were havin this same conversation. Martin Landau played Bela Legosi so !!in good in Ed Wood. Im not mad he won. I like acting, when an actor makes transformations into Character. Like Jamie Foxx in Ray, Forest Whitaker as Idi Amin or Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow. I feel Will Smith got robbed for Ali. And Shawshank was very close to Forres Gump. Forrest Gump was just so visually exciting. As a movie, Shawshank was better. Forrest Gump got it cuz of the direction, script, costume design all together makes the film stand out over the rest. But Pulp Fiction was my all-time favorite movie.

Crash on the otherhand deserved the Oscar. Esp with the ensemble cast all putting up A+ Performances.

The thing I hate is when they give out awards making up for robberies. Like Departed, and Training Day.

Other Notable "Robberies" (My opinion):
'64-My Fair Lady > Dr. Strangelove
'76-Peter Finch in Network > Robert Deniro in Taxi Driver
'80-Ordinary People > Raging Bull
'85-Out Of Africa > The Color Purple
'89-Dances With Wolves > Goodfellas
'96-English Patient > Fargo
'97-Titanic- The biggest robbery of all time.
'00- Julia Roberts in Erin Brockovich > Ellen Burstyn in Requiem for a Dream
'01-Denzel Washington in Training Day > Will Smith in Ali (Really either, or)
'02-Chicago > The Two Towers, Gangs of New York, The Painist
'03-Renée Zellweger in Cold Mountain > Holly Hunter in Thirteen
'05- Reese Witherspoon in Walk the Line > Felicity Huffman in Transamerica
'06-Alan Arkin in Little Miss Sunshine > Eddie Murphy in Dreamgirls

Some Can Argue:
'71-The French Connection > Clockwork Orange
'75-One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest > Dog Day Afternoon
'76-Rocky > Taxi Driver
'77-Annie Hall > Star Wars
'89-Daniel Day Lewis in My Left Foot > Morgan Freeman in Driving Miss Daisy
'92-Unforgiven > Malcolm X, A Few Good Men & Scent Of A Woman
'92-Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman > Denzel Washington in Malcolm X
'94-Forrest Gump > Pulp Fiction & Shawshank Redemption
'03-The Return of the King > Lost in Translation & Mystic River
'04-Million Dollar Baby > The Aviator & Ray
'05-Crash > Over every movie nominated with it. [Munich, Brokeback, Capote, Good Night, Good Luck]
'06-The Departed > Letter from Iwo Jima, Babel, the Queen

Its very hard for black and gangster themed movies to win. Its not basically a popularity contest or about performance. Its the broader appeal. Well, then I guess it is a popularity contest. Lol...

What u guys think?
