What was the biggest robbery in Oscar history? |
| | ||||
| | ||||
| This is a hard one, I would have to say Goodfellas/Taxi Driver being robbed by feel good hollywood movies (Rocky and Dancing with Wolves [smiley] one written, one directed by the starring actor both whom suck. :thumbsdow ) Both should have won Best picture, director, and actor (both DeNiro) Some other robberies had to be Pacino losing to bums twice over the Godfather movies. Kubrick in 71 (A Clockwork Orange) not even best director..nothing. Hitchcock when he made Vertigo...etc just typing this makes me throw up at the academies choices. |

| -adrien brody over DDL - forest gump over shawshank....forest gump was ridiculously good but shawshank is imo top 5 greatest of all time. -scorcese getting screwed over multiple times - and recently (all u insecure homophobes are gonna hate this one) brokeback mountain deserved best picture over crash...if a movie wins an award for best director the movie needs to win best picture as well. | |

I actually think Taxi Driver not getting it's recognition was a bigger travesty than Goodfellas. Though Goodfellas cinematography and direction were a huge cinematic accomplishment... I thought Taxi Driver was much more groundbreaking for its time. Especially given Scorsese's experience at the time, it was obvious the dude is out of this world. Robert DeNiro definitely should have got the Oscar for his performance as Travis Bickle. Bickle was a seriously complicated character and DeNiro pulled it off flawlessly. I think him losing was more out of sympathy for the dude that died that was nominated. He did win supporting actor like two or three years earlier though. Vertigo not winning is bull!! too. I haven't seen all of Hitchcock's films, but from the 10+ that I have Vertigo is my favorite. Some of the Best Pics from the last few years have been garbage too. I didn't think The Departed was a bad choice, but these films I don't think were worthy... 2006: Crash (should have gone to Munich) 2005: Million Dollar Baby (should have gone to The Aviator) 2004: None of the films nominated deserved Best Pic in my opinion, a horrible year. 2003: Chicago (should have gone to Gangs of New York) 1999: Shakespeare In Love (Should of been Saving Private Ryan) 1997: The English Patient (should have gone to Fargo) 1995: PULP FICTION >>>> Forrest Gump 1991: Goodfellas >>>> Dances With Wolves ... I could go on and on. Last edited by JFamis; 02-16-2008 at 08:37 PM.. | ||
