Viggo Mortensen Won't Be In 'Thor 2'; Marvel May Drop 'Ant-Man' Footage Online

Well, duh. The rumor itself was built on shaky ground, and given the actor's choosiness and selectiveness over roles and directors he'll take on, it's probably no shock that Viggo Mortensen won't be in "Thor: The Dark World." Tenuous-to-begin with reports (or leaps of logic) had linked him to the role of Dr. Strange, and while the character itself isn't ruled out, Mortensen won't playing along in the sequel, and it's not like Marvel were even aware the dude was still taking scripts.

“We would love to work with Viggo Mortensen. I’ve been trying that for years. But I don’t know if Viggo is even acting anymore," Marvel executive Victoria Alonso said. "I thought he wasn’t acting anymore. It would be great to work with him in the future, but we don’t have him signed, no.” So to summarize: yes, he is still working. No, he won't be in the next "Thor" movie.

Moving on, it seems everyone geek really wants Edgar Wright to stop everything he's doing and go make "Ant-Man" already, but the director is currently at work on "The World's End" with his pals Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. But perhaps in a bid to appease fans for now, Marvel is considering dropping Wright's test footage screened at Comic-Con to the worldwide interwebs for everyone to fawn over and pick apart in equal measure.

"What we showed at Comic-Con was a work in progress. We’re working on finishing it, and I think you might see it. Not sure where, but we always listen to the fans. And if the fans demand it we make sure they get it," Alonso said. "I don’t know if we are going to post it online, but I don’t have [any reason] to believe we may not.”

We'd reckon they would have to clear it with Wright first (or least make sure he's cool with it) because not every director wants their early version of a potential movie out there for everyone to gawk at and comment on. But then again, if Wright was cool with it at Comic-Con, he may be down with showing it off to fans who couldn't make it to San Diego.

So there's your latest update on what's cooking in Marvel-land. So if Viggo isn't in "Thor: The Dark World" but if it does have Dr. Strange -- who should play the part?

i really think they need to go heavily kid friendly with this go the honey i shrunk the kids route have him accidently shrink himself and have him small for 80% of the movie and what he has to deal with fixing his belt

i dont even think they should have him do any real super hero stuff like fighting a real villian

With Tony Stark in the room he is absolutely worthless. WORTHLESS.


Not to mention Bruce Banner as well.


The only way to make him remotely interesting is retain the wife-beater aspect.

Um what? They are all experts in different fields. He never beat jan he struck her (which shooter intended to be a push but the artist drew it as a right cross) He's IMO a more complex character than stark or banner. Plus he created Ultron.

Well, for one, Hank Pym even admitted that when he found out Iron Man was Tony Stark all along he felt like he was useless.

Stark is leaps and bounds ahead of Pym when it comes to intelligence. Add in Bruce Banner and Pym is just wasting everybody's air.

Creating Ultron is in no way a plus for the character. He might as well have helped design AIDS.

Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes, Green Lantern, Body of Lies, Rock N' Rolla, etc...) would make a great Dr. Strange
