Seth macfalane to be on the premier episode of the simpsons next fall

Seth MacFarlane's headed to Springfield.

The mastermind behind Fox's Family Guy has recorded a guest role on his network's other perennial animated smash, The Simpsons.

MacFarlane will appear in an episode slated to air next fall titled "Dangers on a Train" in which he'll voice a charming married man named Ben, who tries to romance Marge when she meets him through an Ashley Madison-type website that she mistakenly believed to be a cupcake-themed page.

Not knowing that the site is actually a place for people to plot extramarital trysts, Marge and Ben subsequently bond over a mutual love of Upton Rectory, The Simpsons' version of PBS' hit Downton Abbey.

Per the long-running cartoon's brain trust, having The Family Guy guru and newly announced Oscar host appear on The Simpsons is a match made in heaven.

Family Guy celebrates 200 episodes with one-hour special

"We thought we had a great part that he'd be perfect for, and it would be great to have him on our show, so it worked out just right, Simpsons executive producer Al Jean told EW.com. "There's been a little rivalry. We're both humor shows and we make jokes, but it's always been friendly."

The episode is also expected to show off MacFarlane's singing chops, as his character will croon "The Way You Look Tonight." Funnylady Lisa Lampanelli has also been tapped to voice Ben's wife.

Though The Simpsons and Family Guy are friendly rivals, no doubt Seth owes a huge debt to the former. While his show recently hit the 200-episode mark last month, The Simpsons is still going strong at 500-plus episodes as it enter its 25th (!) season later this year. But as with that 'toon, MacFarlane recently announced that Family Guy will be getting its own movie as well.

Simpsons accepting defeat?

I dont think anything ever could compare to The Simpsons from Seasons 1 to about 13. That !! is timeless, I've been re-watching the old seasons and Family Guy/South Park don't have !! on these old episodes.

Most of the stuff after Season 13 has been very mediocre - straight up trash.

Oh well....I'll still eventually watch every episode..It's the show I grew up with.
