Robocop Gets Marianne Jean-Baptiste as Detroit's Police Chief

Marianne Jean-Baptiste has boarded José Padilha's remake of the classic action film RoboCop.

The actress will play Detroit Police Chief, Karen Dean. The project has Joel Kinnaman playing the cyborg cop alongside Jackie Earle Haley, Gary Oldman, Hugh Laurie, Abbie Cornish and Samuel L. Jackson. José Padilha is helming from a script provided by Joshua Zetumer.

The actress is best known for playing Vivian Johnson in CBS's Without a Trace.

Production will begin in Toronto next month.

RoboCop comes to theaters August 9th, 2013 and stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, Hugh Laurie, Jackie Earle Haley. The film is directed by José Padilha.

If I'm not mistaken, the original wasn't really filmed in Detroit. It was filmed mostly in Texas and
Pennsylvania with a little bit in Detroit on a 13 million dollar budget! [pic]

I thought the original was filmed in la. That's why I said again. They're probably not gonna shoot in Detroit, but I really hope they do.
