True Grit, 7/10. Good cinematography and fine direction from the Coen's. Script wasn't their best effort but was solid, Bridges had a nice role but the story wasn't typical of Coen's, very light and at times dull. I don't know what else to say but I have to see it again.

Iron Man 2, ehhh 6.5 out of 10. Not even close to the first one. There was no buildup, Mickey Rourke's villain with two whips was weak, everything felt forced.

[pic] listen to what you just said.

add in a great chase scene,[..]assins, plot twists, and youve got a pretty solid movie.

there was like 30 seconds of action total and it was very weak at that. Movie tried to hard to be cerebral.

It was. I'd give it a 1 but it had a lot of eye candy.

Are you being serious?

You'd call that a "great chase scene"?

A boring, tedious movie with no story, no character development, no point, no pace etc, does not constitute a solid movie.

it did have those things. maybe lacking on the character development tip a bit, other than that, yes, i thought it was pretty solid.

his paranoia fueled by the fact that he proved he's a coldblooded k!ller at the beginning of the movie, really set a tone for the duration and setup the idea that he himself, could be k!lled at any moment.

i guess it might have been more like a 7/10.

like i said I enjoyed it, and I thought the twists at the end were great. definitely had a feeling he did something to the gun, and he ends up dying after he changes his way.

Wings of Desire - Wim Wenders classic, poetic and lyrical movie about life and what it means to be human. The imagery is powerful and it makes statements on day to day life from an angels prospective. 9/10

Scenes from a Marriage - Bergman's series chronicling the ups and downs of a broken marriage, harsh dialogue hits you right in the gut and it never lets up. It shows two people lost in their marriage and in their outside relations. I saw the 3 hour version but feel like I owe the 5 hour original a chance. 8/10

I watched 3 duds within 24 hours

Avatar...3/10

It is absolutely nothing that hasn't been done before as far as storytelling...it has to just be one of those 'you gotta see in theaters' movies but as far as entertainment value, it sucks....Melodramatic 10 foot blue things in a big[..] tree, it was not compelling at all

Notorious...4/10...it sucks but I expected it to

I had low expectations going in and the film did it's job of barely meeting them. Even though I already knew the story of B.I.G, I was hoping the film would show one thing that I or any self respecting rap fan didn't already know and of course it failed. The script is probably the worst I've seen/heard in years, a total 'let's just get this thing out there' type of script. They didn't develop anyone, it was a made TV melodrama trying to tell the story of one of the most influential figures of the 90s. The entire film just reeked of 'rush job' they'll start a story arc and finish it in 3 minutes. 'Meet lil kim, they !!, she's rapping while she's getting dressed afterwards' boom, there's the whole story arc of discovering lil kim. Tupac shows up at the studio, gets robbed/shot, by the time he's put on the gurney 45 seconds later, the whole beef has started and escalated to warfare.

The acting was horrible from guy with the Webster disease that played lil cease to derek luke as puffy and everyone else in between. Sure there was not anything in the script for them to work with but damn the acting was terrible.

Brooklyn's finest - 3/10

There is absolutely nothing that grabs you about this movie. In essence, there's just a bunch of good actors walking around a set saying their terribly scripted lines waiting for shooting to be done. And in turn, as a viewer, you're just sitting there waiting for the movie to be over and hoping for something to happen towards the end and it never does. If Fuqua is going to ride Training Day until the wheels fall off, at least do a good job at recreating it. This film had so much potential and it just fell flat...there's nothing going on to suck you in and the character development is slow and in the end does not make you care about any of them one bit.

Great story (mob hitman taking on the whole irish mob alongside his son), amazing cast and top notch acting, and it had some of the best cinematography I ever seen (that rain scene with Hanks and Newman >>>>>), Rip to Conrad Hall. Pretty underrated film, never seen it mentioned on any best of the decade list, which it easily deserves to be on.
i concur...idl'd off of rockho's lil movie page...i was blown away by how dope it was and how long i was sleeping...most obscure comics that get made into movies end up being dope
