My review of Total Recall

 My review of Total Recall
By youknowmystelo - 08-03-2012, 07:55 PM - Boxden > The TV and Movie Spot

Total Recall is a cautionary tale of trans-humanism into the near future where advanced technology and science has met their greatest potential to nurtured any worldly sensation possible. A future that has forgotten about mysticism & religion—and where imagination doesn't exist.

There still is a working-class but they are the outcasts, with no use after their mechanical shifts, they are just jaded beings because there is nothing to look forward in their future unless they give in by joining the consensus reality, a reality that pushed onto them at every turn outside the factory. They are left no choice either to suffer from being an outsider or to join the charade & manipulate themselves to the lowest astral body of consciousness.

Even when you play out your requested fantasies you aren't safe from the powers that be from dictating your mind or your distorting your grip on fantasy or reality. The red or blue pill you lose either way. I heard someone say there was no undercurrent, oh yes there is you just have to question things. This is another case of a bad movie (in this case remake) bringing up questions into the surface in interesting times that will unfortunately get overlooked.

I could have easily added four paragraphs of pure fluff (The flat one-liners, scenes, acting, etc) but why beat around the bush? I invite others to question relation between the film and our world. And this is a review as all these plots show themselves in the movie.

Thanks for the discouragement.

I wasn't dissing you... I was just remarking upon the fact that all the stuff you consider "pure fluff" is the stuff that people want to know about when reading a review ALONG with the deeper questions. Without the "pure fluff", it might as well not be a review.

A question that isn't really answered in this review. I know the deeper meanings one can see in it. I've read the original short story, and have seen both films. I know those themes are present, what I'd like to know is whether you'd recommend the movie, because I honestly can't tell by reading this.

The last sentences tells it all, but i don't promote movies. I wanted to drive home a point. They already have your review for the superficial. You know damn well people on BX don't question those themes so educate them.

I actually wanted to trade exchanges on how would a prison system work in this reality? And the military interpretations and so on.

Stelo is Armond confirmed.

Should have titled this The Subtext Total Recall or something like that. This reads more like the last few paragraphs of a review where the writer starts to theorize on the deeper meanings of the movie than a full fledged review.

[pic] Your first sentence is such a tremendous cluster!! of hilarity, any self-respecting reader shouldn't even bother wasting their time reading the rest.

We'll, considering your ego has taken a tremendous hit by me twice in a row you feel the need to pick it up here. There's nothing wrong with that sentence to open up my review.

There's no theorizing that's exactly what's in the movie.

You really saw the movie? You need more details.

Those details aren't worth talking about to me. You think i would lie?

Dream of me, but not in these pants.

Robot, !!.

Pseudo-wisdom talk: A man is not what is has done past but of his action in the present.

How about we actually talk about what's worth talking about movies.
