20th Century Fox is in trouble.

As many of you may well know, back in the early 2000's, Marvel made deals with multiple studios that would entitle them to use of their characters under certain stipulations. That stipulation is this: the studios MUST keep making films under a deadline, or else they will lose the rights to Marvel. Well, after Marvel's successful run with producing its own films, other studios are sweating bullets to pump out movies or else risk losing VERY lucrative properties.

Now, this brings us to Fox. Under their roof, Fox owns the film rights to X-Men, Daredevil, and Fantastic Four. While X-Men & Fantastic Four movies keep Marvel from getting the rights back to those properties, the same cannot be said for "Daredevil". Fox has been dying to get a reboot happening for years. But, after losing its director David Slade (yet maybe gaining a new one), Fox is in deep trouble when it comes to Daredevil. Basically, if a Daredevil film hasn't begun production come October 10th, the rights revert back to Marvel Studios.

But, Marvel is willing to make a deal with Fox apparently.

Fox is entering a deal with director Joe Carnahan, the director of such films like The Grey, Narc, The A Team, & Smokin' Aces, to direct a hard Frank Miller-esque 70's action thriller starring Daredevil. But, it is unlikely that the film, a script, or production will be ready by October. But, according to Variety, Marvel is currently negotiating an extension on the rights to Daredevil.

The catch? Well, in return for the extension, Fox MUST relinquish the rights to Galactus AND Silver Surfer. This is a win-win for both parties. Fox gets to keep on track for a Daredevil reboot, and Marvel can integrate characters like Galactus & Silver Surfer (both of whom would work great in the current Marvel Cinematic Universe). Of course, this could open the door for deals that would indeed be mutually beneficial to Marvel & competing studios. Think of Fox & Marvel collaborating to merge both the Marvel Cinematic Universe & the X-Men universe... OR, Marvel & Sony introducing Spider-Man into the Avengers fold? This spells good news on all fronts... More details as they come...

Don't give Daredevil to Marvel. Every Marvel movie expect for Iron Man felt like an Avengers trailer. [pic]

They get !! done over there at Marvel but they prefer quantity over quality. I actually applauded Warner Bros when they waited for Nolan to make TDKR after having him go do Inception instead of giving it to another director. Marvel making 3 superhero films a year and rebooting !! is going to dry out the superhero genre real quick.

Superman is going on it's 3rd reboot. Batman just finished it's 2nd reboot, and will likely reboot in the coming years. They are probably going to have to reboot Green Lantern if they want to make another movie with him. Yeah, Marvel is most certainly going to dry out the genre with their reboots. By the way, what has Marvel rebooted except for The Incredible Hulk?

I didn't mean now. I meant later on. Marvel has Thor, Captain Iron Man Ant Man and so forth. Chucking them out so fast is going to make the reboots come even quicker. Having almost 3 superhero flicks in one year which Marvel is planning to do i believe is a bad idea. I like my superhero movies. I don't want them to get stale. Take time to develop a great script and a fantastic movie.

But that is my humble opinion. Don't attack me fanboy! [pic]

Spiderman is Sony. Fantastic Four is Fox. The Punisher is Lionsgate.

Edit: I think you are confusing Marvel the comic book company with Marvel Studios.

ACTUALLY, at that point, rights reverted back to Marvel Studios, and released it under its production arm "Marvel Knights". They just distributed through Lionsgate.

And, Superman was never rebooted until now. Superman Returns is not technically a reboot because it still exists in the continuity of the previous films.

Well I was actually just tryna to say that comic book fliks (whether Marvel or DC whoever) have always been made. I dont think theyll ever get stale like homeboy said. Especially with all the tech we have now. & props to Omega for chiming in.
