Leonardo DiCaprio Taking Hiatus from Acting After 'Wolf of Wall Street'

Leonardo DiCaprio Taking Hiatus from Acting After 'Wolf of Wall Street'
topic by Steve - 01-21-2013, 10:15 AM - Boxden > The TV and Movie Spot

We're still pretty disappointed that Leonardo DiCaprio didn't get nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his turn as the dastardly Calvin Candie in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. The good news is, DiCaprio is pretty much always an Oscar contender when he turns in a performance and next year he'll have two opportunities. The first comes this summer in Baz Lurhmann's The Great Gatsby and the other comes in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street (both in my 13 Most Anticipated Films of 2013). But after that, we might have to wait awhile for another Oscar caliber performance from DiCaprio as he revealed in an interview that he's taking a break from acting.

Speaking with an outlet in Germany, ABS-CBN (via The Film Stage) reports DiCaprio's remarks:

"I am a bit drained. I'm now going to take a long, long break. I've done three films in two years and I'm just worn out. I would like to improve the world a bit. I will fly around the world doing good for the environment."
If DiCaprio is drained, imagine how someone like Nicolas Cage (who does 37 films a year) probably feels by now. Of course, DiCaprio dedicated a lot more time and energy to each role it seems, so his exhaustion is understandable. Don't forget that he also produces films through his Appian Way production banner like the forthcoming Out of the Furnace with Christian Bale, Runner Runner with Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake and his own The Wolf of Wall Street, which will mark his last performance for awhile. We're not sure what "long, long break" means to DiCaprio, but he's earned at least a year or two away from the spoitlight. It's a bummer for fans of his work, but this just means he can come back with a vengeance.

Daniel Day Lewis is undoubtedly the best actor at the moment, he doesnt act often enough though. Di Caprio has definitely been in some good films over the years, the departed was my favorite role of his
