It was fictional but at the same time pretty damn accurate of how our ancestors were treated. And alot of white people didn't get that sh*t. You can't write that sh*t off as just being sensitive. Hell white folks get sensitive as fu*k when you bring up O.J.(not all but alot do) we talking about genocide and they cry over some blond hair bi*ch (R.I.P.)

But besides all that it's a really good movie. If you connected to your ancestors and not just some brain dead a.ss negro still heavily enslaved in the mind you'll feel some deep emotion watching this movie. It was funny scenes at the right time and I laughed but man this movie hit home. And judging from other black ppl reaction in the theater it hit close to home for them as well. You got to be black to fully understand that sh*t.

By the way after the movies White people were courtesy as hell. EXCUSE ME,SIR YOU GO RIGHT AHEAD OF ME BUDDY!!!!! HERE HAVE MY POP CORN FINE YOUNG MAN!!!!

Some say it's a lotta nerve
I say we won't quit moving
Til we get what we deserve
We've been buked and we've been scourned
We've been treated bad, talked about
As just as sure as you're born
But just as sure as it take
Two eyes to make a pair, huh
Brother, we can't quit until we get our share

Say it loud,
I'm black and I'm proud
Say it loud,
I'm black and I'm proud, one more time
Say it loud,
I'm black and I'm proud, huh

I've worked on jobs with my feet and my hands
But all the work I did was for the other man
And now we demands a chance
To do things for ourselves
We tired of beating our heads against the wall
And working for someone else

you guys should check all parts of this. but this part specifically with quentin and kerrys answers give both of their perspectives on making this movie and maybe change your mind on quentins intentions.

There's a very specific point in the movie where it takes a sudden downward spiral.

Up until that point I was already crowning this movie as beast of 2012, but it quickly fell off and is reduced to just a "good, entertaining movie" for me. Also, I thought some of the music choices were pretty terrible and corny as hell.

All of the actors k!lled it though, and there were some outstanding scenes (the dinner scene for instance). I just with he chose a different path (or cut it all together) for the end.
For me it was the middle of the second act (From the Mandingo f!ghts to the first scene in Candyland)

This is also when the movie was at it's most racist and when a lot of the older people decided to walk out.

I could list them all, but I'm black and still think it's an awesome movie.

I think it was funny how many white people brought their light-skinned/mixed friend to the movies to not appear racist

I'd be interested in an elaboration

damn and im sure you told all the people you know that it was a.ss when your opinion about the movie is in the minority. They probably were like "damn, i thought it would be good" and are now missing out on the experience of a movie like this.

Regardless of what you feel about the movie, it will win oscars, it will probably be praised as a classic movie in the future and that's all there is to it. It's a critically acclaimed picture.

A movie like The Last Airbender is a.ss. Not this one.

You always got those people that are just hard to please. Hope you're not like that. I know this guy who's not impressed with anything from music to movies to everything. He always tries to sh*t on things that are held with high regard just to be different..

Which part was the downward spiral ?? I feel like the whole movie was thoroughly entertaining and every scene in general played well into the progression of the story. I wouldn't remove much if anything.

can we get an elaboration if you dont mind ?? I feel like most black people loved it and most of the racist white people hated it.

If your perspective is one that goes over most people's heads is it really validated ??

kinda like the whole "does a tree fall if no one hears it" type of thing in a way.
