He's in my top 3 as well but I have Spike and Scorsese above him. Django was not a fu*king slave film at all there's is nothing historically accurate in it besides that there's slaves.

To answer your question which is not a clear cut answer, yes. Heres the thing QT doesn't have the resume in films that Spike has. If Spike has just 7 films he'd be on Crooklyn.

Moving away from Spike, Tim Story has an extremely diverse resume when it comes the actors he's worked with, but doesn't have the name. I do think he could pull if off if given the opportunity. F Gary Gray is another name director with one of the better resumes, Forest Whitaker, John Singleton, Stan Lathan etc. Any of these guys could direct a slave film or any other black film but a) won't get a 83 mil budget b) won't get the studios support and a Christmas release c) would be twice as crucified if they made a violent black film let alone with that violence directed at white folk.

My whole point was it's not qualification and it's not skill level it's opportunity right now. This movie has a great story but technically it was lacking the pop of k!ll Bill or Pulp Fiction. Thinking of the power QT has in hollywood is crazy because theres no way any Black director could get this make made. If on an equal playing field I have no doubt they could make the film and probably make it more realistic.

I liked it. I was offended at parts but PEOPLE need to know the slave times story. They think it didn't exist or that it wasnt that bad because time has gone by. NO this slavery is why stuff is still messed up in this country. Jamie foxx k!lling all them hatred filled, bigoted people made up for it...hahaha

As much as you worship this man none of his family was slaves and hes never been called a n'gger so how is he better suited to tell a black mans story then a black man?
you do know it happens in hollywood all the time. that's why there is something called research.

should we discredit all authors and directors who write about people, places, and times that they have no connection to?

david simon is white. he depicted baltimore pretty accurate during those times.(The Wire)

the classic mob movies have been written by whites and italians. scorcese and coppola were italian nerds, that never were apart of that lifestyle but they surrounded themselves by the right people to help depict and describe those stories.(Godfather,Goodfellas,Casino)

Lol idk about y'all but I enjoyed the sh*t outta this movie and watching the white man get beat and seeing a brother win in a movie. Refreshing to see a foreigner and a black guy use the white devils laws against them. I loved the vengeance against the white man and felt not one bit of guilt enjoying it for all the pain and suffering some of these evil men caused in history.

Maybe if there was a black director with the fame, resume, and star power of Tarantino with the ability to get great actors like Quentin can you'd have a point. But there isn't.

Are you forgetting about the opening scene where Nazi's open fire on a innocent family of Jews? Inglorious basterds has little to do with Jews. It is about the k!lling of Nazi's. All of World War 2 was not simply "JEWS, JEWS, JEWS" like so many believe. You should read up on it.

While on the other hand Django has very much to do about the plight of Blacks during the slavery era of the US.

11 million people died in the Holocaust and 70 million in the whole war and n*ggas focused on the 6 million Jews that died

Im gonna download it but these type of movies put me in a certain kinda mood. Ive been called a N'gger so yes It kinda sets something off in my head when I hear whites use it or im around blacks that use it around whites.. The first time I was called one I was with a white friend and I never heard it like that with hate. Needless to say I got educated.. The second time I was called a fu*king N'gger was in a f!ght. After that day nobody said it to my face again cuz I was serious about that sh*t. I have no qualms with the word n'gga because I feel like when I use it im taking power from the word and what it was meant to be wen im talking to my brothas.. My momma and daddy was born in the early 50s so they never played that sh*t and I never said it around them. People that arent black wanna say it so bad but I feel like you gotta earn it.. and my people went to hell doing so.. its about struggle. So like I say.. I feel like when blacks use it now its a reminder of the struggle. I try not to use it tho..

Heartbreaking story..

Anyways, the movie is incredible from beginning to end. Easily one of the top movies of 2012.

It was a great movie. Really great. It just rubbed me the wrong way with how people in the theater were laughing so much at the use of the N word.

I agree with the poster that said a black director couldn't have gotten away with making this movie as crazy as that seems.

Easily one of the best movies of the year. Great acting. Waltz and Leo owned. And Sam Jackson was hilarious.

My only real gripe was that it should have ended
[spoiler - click to view]

But that didn't ruin the fact that it was a great movie. And I really have a tough time deciding between Leo and Waltz for that best supporting actor award I am sure both will be nominated for.

I think Leo had to put much more into his character for this role he def should win something. Waltz was just a weaker version of his IBastards character he was still great. Jamie was great too, but he didn't really have to go leaps and beyond. Leo has never done a character like that and pulled it off magnificently.

Leo the GOD.

i agree with the white people laughing at the N word. but i think they've been blinded by watching Pryor,Chappelle,Murphy, etc other comedians using it in their stand up, that they feel comfortable laughing at it. Because there are plenty jokes by those comedians that are wrapped around the usage of the word. Just how it is said. But def rub me a little wrong. But whatever im not in the theatre to analyze muthafu*kas. Its a movie, enjoy yourself have a good time and thats exactly what this movie is about. You laugh, you wanna cry, you get angry, you happy, theres defeat, theres redemption.
