I would say De Niro because of Meet the Parents. He starred in one of the best comedies ever Pacino can't say that.

Yeah, wana fight about it?

My favorite comedy of all time, like I said, he was a lead role. How many great comedies has Pacino been in? The rest of each of their respective resume's are pretty close imo thats why that makes the difference. De Niro's been in a few more classics but no one carries a film like Pacino and his early work is so !!in outstanding. Donnie Brasco is also probably my favorite mob movie of all time. Not "the best" but my favorite. Pacino is absolutely amazing in that, should of won an award if he didn't.

I disagree, I thin Pacino was better in both. Michael Corleone in part II??? Cmon man. I loved him as the seasoned veteran cop in Heat too.

Nah but its really close, its not like there are any wrong answers in this thread. Maan I might go and watch Heat again right now, what a !!in movie.

I would rank it like this

Mike in I > Vito in I and II (Brando/DeNiro) > Mike in II. I think the Scarface hype here is the reason it is being debated so much, and the dude who said critics and others in the business choose Pacino please back it up, majority of them prefer DeNiro from Oscars to critics.
Glad you mention Dog Day Afternoon, absolutely masterful performance from Pacino, right after GF II and couldn't be a more different character than Michael.

I disagree with everything else you said if I'm understanding you right. GF II was definitely the pinnacle of the Michael Corleone character and Pacino's portrayal of him...

DeNiro... no slight to Pacino because he is one of the best to ever do it. But DeNiro just does the little things so !!ing well that it's amazing. Definitely my favorite actor of all time.

That's what settles it for me. De Niro can act in damn near every genre and do it well. Can you see Pacino in Meet The Parent? [pic] Plus Pacino's best work came out 20 and 30 years ago. De Niro keeps coming out with quality work.

But still....

Pacino in GFII >>>> Anything De Niro's done [pic]

Scarface is the most over-rated movie in film history, imo.

Pacino is great, but gotta go with De Niro, because he is far more versatile.
