How much did TDK make its second week?

And white people are scary so I'm not shocked the shooting stopped them from seeing this

Those aren't awful numbers.

That's the sixth best all-time second weekend...

The third fastest movie to $250M... Only movies ahead of it are The Dark Knight and a 3-D movie [pic]

The Avengers had Battleship it's 3rd weekend out, and destroyed it. I see Batman beating total recall, but if it doesn't, are we going to blame that on the shooting also?

IMAX and 3-D are both gimmicks to me.

When you put it like that this movie looks impressive, but truth is, this movie has underperformed, and it just keeps getting uglier.

I wasn't impressed with the IMAX portion of this movie.

Maybe you guys didnt see a real IMAX screen cuz let me tell you, the IMAX I saw was incredible! Screen was 6 stories high. Picture was perfect. I've never seen so much detail before. The first fight scene between bane and batman was nothing short of spectacular. The bat suit when it was wet almost got me hard. You could really see the difference between the IMAX scene and the regular ones. IMAX made the regular scenes look blurry.

That shooting is going to affect this movie's entire run. We'll never know what it could've done. Pulling a movie's advertising for almost an entire week, especially its first week in theaters hurts more than you think it does.

Disagree. [pic] When IMAX and 3-D are done right, I think they're worth it. However, if you're saying bringing up a 3-D movie is one of the titles ahead of it isn't a good point, it is. Avengers first weekend, 52% of its sales were 3-D. Dark Knight realistically doesn't have any chance of doing that much in IMAX sales. I'm pretty sure if it sold out every IMAX show at all 297 IMAX theaters that wouldn't even be close to $100M.

Edit: Didn't notice you said "to me." the first time I read this...

[pic] 52% of sales does not mean half of it's take. Last time I checked, 3D was only 25% to 30% higher. It might account for $50M of it's take, but even that is probably to high though.

Edit/sidenote: When they say 52% of it's sales came from 3D, what they mean is 52% of the people that went to see the movie chose the 3D version over the regular.

In Portland, a 3-D movie is $4.00 more than a regular ticket. So let's say nationally, the average is $3.50 more to be conservative, even though Portland is pretty reasonably priced... That means about 13,000,000 people chose to see it in 3-D... That's an extra $45.5M it made its opening weekend... So I don't think $50M is too far off. If there were a way to track individual ticket sales, I don't think Avengers would've been the best seller over The Dark Knight Rises, or if it was not by more than 500k.

[pic] That would put it at 162 million. 2 million better than the dark knight rises.
