The studio behind "The Dark Knight Rises" is removing all images and references to guns from all "Batman" movie trailers ... TMZ has learned.

Sources tell TMZ ... the honchos at Warner Bros. gave the order just a few hours after the shooting in Colorado this morning.

We're told the studio is hoping to replace the current made for TV trailers with the gun-free version as soon as possible.

We've called Warner Bros. for comment -- so far, no word back.

This is getting out of hand now...

Why when something like this happens must we suddenly be treated like children?

Man !! that. That's seriously stupid. Yes it's a tragedy, but is guy was a nut job. He would've done what he did no matter what. I hate when people overreact to !!. I know it's a big deal and I feel sorry for those families who lost loved ones, but it was an isolated incident.

They act like people will magically forget what happened, as long as they pretend there's no guns in the movie when advertising it.

If your gonna be needlessly PC, you may as well pull the damn movie from theaters. If showing guns in TDKR commercials would be considered insensitive, than continuing to make money off the flick would be more so.

I'm not saying they should do that. But if your gonna censor yourselves like that, you may as well edit that !! out the final cut somehow, and release it as a "special" edition.[pic]

Thats true. Ive seen a few where there was heavy gun violence but nobody dies, just got really !!ed up. America is just a !!ed up place because were all being controlled and so many people still dont realize whats going on.

Theyre removing it out of RESPECT, nobody is saying the trailer influenced the guy.. but I totally agree, if you're gonna remove guns from the trailer out of respect, you should also pull the movie from theaters out of respect. But while the tragedy hit home for the families of Aurora, we cant expect Nolan to take a hit in his already deep pockets because of this can we?

This is the STUPIDEST !! I've heard all day! This movie didn't make him do !!, he made himself do it cuz of years of whatever, not batman or Nolan the god! Cutting the trailer shows that you think something is your fault, even tho you had no control over Holmes actions. What they should do out of respect is pay for a memorial or something for the victims.
