Now that we have a release date for Marvel's "Avengers" sequel, attention can turn towards the next big step: naming the damn thing!

Joss Whedon's follow-up to his superhero hit has yet to receive an official title. At the moment, Disney is referring to it as UNTITLED MARVEL'S AVENGERS SEQUEL, which clearly won't stick. But what should the sequel title be? Should they just tack on a "2" and call it a day, or should Marvel continue the trend they've recently est@blished with subtitles like "The Dark World" for the "Thor" sequel?

Read on for a few of our suggestions for the next "Avengers" film's title.

"Marvel's The Avengers: The Thanos Imperative"
It feels all but certain that Marvel is going for Thanos as their next big bad. If so, and of he's front and center in "Guardians of the Galaxy" as expected, why not just put him right there in the title, build up the hype even more? Besides, drawing upon the title of the classic comic book story would guarantee die-hard fan excitement, just like "Winter Soldier" is doing for "Cap 2."

"Marvel's The Avengers: Annihilation"
Likewise, this suggestion once again draws upon what readers already know from the comics. But more than that, the title also comes drenched in danger. I've long held that the "Avengers" sequel needs to up the ante raised by Coulson's [rip] by k!lling a full-fledged member of the team. A title like "Annihilation" poses a serious threat not just to the people of Earth, but their mightiest heroes as well. Speaking of which...

"Earth's Mightiest Heroes"
For all the commentary on lessons DC needs to learn from Marvel, here's one that the House of Ideas could take away from "The Dark Knight": forget the subtitles. Transform the title entirely and let the world know who the Avengers really are. If it worked for Batman, it can work for Iron Man and friends.

"Joss Whedon's The Avengers: Serenity"
Got a shiny ring to it, yeah? We can only dream...
