Story Behind My Tat

I'm lazy and I just copied this from my fb page. Here's the story and a couple pics.

A lot of people ask me why I got hero tattoo'd on my wrist, well here's the story;

In January of 2006 my mom (Mom Rogers to most) went into the hospital for blood clots in her legs. What was a regular hospital stay turned into something far worse when they gave my mom her medicine wrong. She flat lined for a few minutes and was put in I.C.U. She was there for about 4 days and I remember her heart monitor said her heart was beating like 130 times a minute.

When she got out of there the put her in a regular room, still hooked up to a million machines of course, and she didn't say a word for 2 days. I remember it was 4am January 16th when I found out she was talking again. I guess it's funny how people remember the smallest things.

The next day I went and talked to her and told her how much she meant to me. I told her she was my hero for being able to fight cancer the way she has and never complained about it. For a couple years she had been through chemo and going back and forth to doctor's offices and I had never heard her complain or fuss. I told her she meant the world to me and I thanked her for everything she had done for me. I also promised her that this wasn't the end, even though every sign was pointing that way. She was told by doctors that she had between two weeks and six months to live and they almost amputated her foot.

My mom then told me that I was her hero for taking her every where she needed to go for many years and for being her shoulder to cry on when things got too heavy. Of course I told her my sacrifices were nothing compared to what she has gone through.

A few days later my mom was put in Hospice. If you don't know what Hospice is you should google that, it will give you a true appreciation for this story. She was in Dayton Hospice for 9 days. After that she went back into the hospital for a couple days and went to my grandma's house and eventually home. She had to learn how to walk all over again and went through a lot of physical therapy.

That was well over a year ago and my mom is still kicking and screaming today. The word "hero" to me is more than a word. I got the tattoo to remind me of God's goodness, how much she has been through and to always keep faith. I never stopped believing in my mom and God. I knew he would bring her through and he did.

props to both of yall for the feed back and I'll keep your mom in my prayers man. it's a hard battle for people to fight and people who haven't had a family member go through something like this don't realize how hard this can be on the families as well.

God Bless

My Mom actually passed on 9/3/07. R.I.P. and I'm so happy that she actually got to see that tattoo so she could know what she meant to me. That was my heart, my Ace, and my best friend.

That is a really good story. When I was 15 my friend died of cancer and I have her initials on my hip under a shooting star. Some people may not understand tattoos but what you got was really sweet, it is important to honor people who you love and admire. I hope your mom is doing better now

Homie, I lost my Pops too on 9-04-06 . I feel your pain - to honor my father (besides quitting cigarettes), I plan on getting his portait on my back soon.
Hold your head.
