Fyi on how Nike is combating obvious rip of Af1 by Bape

i heard this from a very reliable source. I have learned that Nike is fumed by the on going rip of their Af1 by bape and a few shoes by other rips of other by other companies in an effort to indirectly combat the sales of these shoes, because it is effecting their bottom line, they have implemented a strategy of basically any retailer found to have a product that resembles a mold of nike shoe ie bapes af1 or a product that has artwork of nike product that is unauthorized by nike on it will have all the nike account terminated indefinitely.

By artwork i mean if the store is selling a tee shirt or something of the sort made by unauthorized some up coming company that has a picture of a jordan, nike shoe on it, even without the logos, they will terminate their account upon knowledge of this.

A few stores has already fell victim to this....

Dont get it twisted i am not saying that all stores that have bapes and these types of apparel will cease to carry it or get their nike accounts snatched right away.. they have to get caught... and these shops have to have nike accounts in the first place.

this is why you dont see many of your zero account holders ie nort, alife and really big account holders dont carry bapes, etc,,, from what i heard nike is dead serious about this and is a zero tolerance thing and the accounts will not be reissued if caught.

I dont like bapes so makes me feel better... imo bapes= expensive, hyped.low quality, patent leather factory variant or fake af1

Mods and mini-mods the reason i put this in retro is because its main focus is toward the af1 and how bape has ripped it and continues to rip it,even though it pertains acrossed the board of all product . If this the wrong forum please just move it or ignore it depending on what your role is,,.....

so is there any truth to the stories that BAPE received permission to copy the AF! mold? but yea the knockoff jordan tee are getting out of hand. It's one thing to make ur own customs and do quality customs for others on an exclusive basis but the workmanship I see is trash. They're just as bad as all the altered cereal box shirts, no creativity and little quality. makes it kinda hard to sell quality merch. w/o breakin pls pockets or making it so exclusive that ppl can't get to it.

IDK
I read in the last complex (I think it was Complex) saying that if something look similar but not the exact replica, then you good.

This was about nike suing Nigo and it was a lawyer that stated this...
I really don't know because I'm not a bape head... but that would suck for the people that droped all that dough on them hoodies... I seen that sh*t happen to Mitchel & Ness... I must have spent over 3g's on throw backs and as soon as swingmen and bootlegs started poping off, your AVG Joe was able to cop them. slowly they got played out and now no one really rocks them anymore. All I'm saying is that Jumping on what ________ (insert your favoirt rapper here) is rocking on 106 and park, isn't for me anymore. not knocking anyones fashion sense.

when you start off by saying "I heard" then it aint a reliable source

BAPE been in the game since 93...if NIKE wanted to sue they would have been sued em..it's a sh*tload of brands thats copied other brands

matter fact the reason why some stores don't carry BAPE is simply they don't wanna cary it..alot of these places that carry streetwear clothing don't really fu*k w/ BAPE nemore..to mainstream for em now

I mean if Nike was doing that to stores then why not Fight Club in NYC.. they carry bapes/nikes/all types of shoes

I did too, at one point... but lets be honest no one was really wearing throwbacks till Jay came out in that girls girls girls vid... after that Fab OD-ed
it and made it a household name. so not unless you were rocking em when Outcast did in they vid around 94 - 95 (Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik vid I think) don't say throwback weren't fads... because replicas were doing just fine till 02', when people were getting cracked on for having them... after that craze I think they even stoped making replicas (the one with the paint) and started making swingmen.

And this whole Throw Back thing ....sh*t I know it blew into a big fad but c'mon dog...anybody that is into sports was wearing jerseys and throwbacks..that ain't nothing new to people like us who like sports..we didn't Need Jay-Z or Fabolous to show us that...Hell we are the ones that STILL wear em..hah a fu*k a trend.

real talk...i'm happy they got cheaper too...cuz i had wanted that memphis sounds mitchell and ness forever...but i wasn't payin 275 for it...then i got it dirt cheap because the so called "fad" was dead...truth is, sports fans will ALWAYS buy jerseys, just like sneaker heads will ALWAYS buy air force ones.

I could see that if Bapes were takin away from AF1 sales, but they arent. REAL Bapes are so limited in production that they dont steal from the Nike crowd.

Thats like sayin Hyundai is pissed that Mercedes has a similar look to it and its stealing sales... it doesnt work that way. You're talkin about a $200 shoe vs. a $80 shoe. Anyone willing to buy a $200 shoe will probably have that $80 shoe already. You make it sound like Bape got stores all across the world. If anything, Nike should crack down on the bootleggers.

Since Bape is only sold at Bape stores, they arent going to lose a 'Nike' license. Who is your 'very reliable' source of info?

Ayo... thats all good, to be quite honest I never said that NOBODY ever wore throwback till the trend started. But the majority of people did. (when I say Majority 90% is an understatement) most of that stuff was ment to be sports memorabilia. So the 1% of ya'll that were rocking throwback before 99', Props to you ... But lets not front, and be real with our selves not unless you were making mega paper in the 90's no one was really droping dough like that on throwbacks (Mitchell & Ness) to just to rock them. Versace, Prada, Gucci,... maybe at least out here in the North East. Lets not forget the Urban clothing era 97-present. and if any of ya'll say that it wasn't you rocking Mecca/Phat Farm. then ya'll are some real old muthafu*kers; and I'm 24.

P.S
How are you gonna say fu*k a trend and be all over the "The Dress Code - Kicks / Clothing / Fashion" thread??? you must be here for some reason??
