Man I feel week as hell now. :(. I agree with everyone else, I came in expecting poor form and hella spotting. Awesome to see none of that.

Thanks for the motivation, I took about 6 months off from lifting and now i'm regretting it big time. Was close to the 300 club and now I'm barely doing 225 for 6 benching and I don't even want to say what I'm squatting now. lol. But I'm going to keep working my way back up.

Keep up the good work and post if you increase.

I just benched 225 for the first time in my life tonight and was able to do 4 reps [pic] proud moment in my life.

I'm still young, 400 is POWWWA though. My goal is 300 by next year [pic]

very good lift, not trying to sound like a hater but bench press is very overrated and in some ways useless...unless you want to impress girls on the beach with your pecs or something..

whats your dead lift like? squat?

see this post I made here:

We all gotta start somewhere. I used to not be able to bench 245. I remember when I first started lifting I dropped 135 on my chest Just don't quit lifting and you will get there. Bench press is highly overrated but I only recorded this because it was a personal milestone

As you can see we share the same sentiment, but not many people can ever say they benched 405, the average man won't bench 315 in his lifetime much less 405, so lets not try to discredit the accomplishment :)

As for my squat and deadlift, more than I bench that's for sure. I am a goddamn monster in the weightroom

This !! is starting to happen to me... I bench press twice a week and usually do a "pyramid"... I start at 135 and stop at 225... Then come back down... The last two months, by shoulders have been k!lling me... I started taking more days off in between benching, and increased my shoulder/back exercises... Still bothering me...

Anybody have any tips???

And to OP... congrats... That is a major feat

Bench Pressing is overrated?? Man thats crazy. I think the bench press is a staple in bodybuilding or weightlifting. The amount of weight you actually throwing on the bar could maybe kinda sorta be considered overrated. Like doing 225 correctly 10 times vs 315 incorrectly 2 times. Nobody gives a !! how much you can bench if you only "shaking" the weights.

I don't get the whole "bench press is over rated" thing...

I personally think, the best 3 exercises are in no particular order

1. Bench Press
2. Squats
3. Dead Lifts

I don't mean that the exercise is overrated, just the numbers game. I feel this though

nah man

DLs
Squats
BP

in terms of amounts of muscles activated and being worked, all 3 are essential lifts

BP is obvs the bro-lift and most talked about...but DLs will get you looking like a complete alpha-dog....big forearms, mountain traps, huge calves, back etc.

GJDM on the lift OP

my max last yr was 315, i cut for a bit and started to bulk again im getting 300x2, hopefully 315 for reps by end of the summer

I'm feeling this post right here. I agree. In 16 months off the starting strength and 5/3/1 with a solid diet and good sleep I've got my DL up to 475 already and am only 40 pounds away from a 405 squat. I don't even know if my bench press is coming along at an average rate or abover average or what but I feel like I should be doing more than 245 [pic]

MochaWhitey is a straight beast though. At 6"1" and 223 though, a 405 lbs. BP anyway you chop it up is in a very elite category.. [pic]

How often do u do chest? I just started doing bench instead of dumbbell press and right now I'm at 250 tryin to move up to 275...my goal is 305 by the end of the summer. My boy benches 405 but he lifts literally every day of the week
