The weight gainer he was talking about, Up Your Mass, has 50g of carbs and 50g of protein. @ scoops of most whey products and a 1/2 cup of oats covers that.

Almost all mass gainers have 50g of protein per serving. The difference between them is their carbohydrate content. Most of them between 50-100g with a couple going over that.

1/2 cup of oats is 50g of carbs. Add a cup of 2% milk and some fruit and you're at the level of the majority of mass gainers.

Still didn't answer the question.

Also, most weight gainers have < 700 calories.

tha point was mass gainers arent just strictly carb loaded.granted they arent tha healthiest thing but they can definitely be useful to some people.u speak from a perspective of somebody wit experience, everybody isnt at your level.it took me a few years before i started makin my own shakes so everybody has to start somewhere

Mass gainers are carb loaded. All of them have around 40-50g of protein and 10-20g of fat. The rest of the calories are made up of carbohydrates.

I do speak from experience. I've bought expensive[..] weight gainer in the past as well. Why repeat something that somebody else has learned?

They work, I use Russian Bear, it helped A lOT. I took it as a meal replacment and after workout drink. I use gainers because I have a busy lifestyle and can sip throughout the day while eating other things and they keep my diet straight because instead of going to 5 guys I can opt for the salad and drink the gainer.

Also, Russian Bear tastes so damn GOOD!

FOOD!!! Don't be falling victim to all these supplements. especially the ones the GNC people tell you you need. Just man up and eat some damn food. Them "mass gainers" are usually well overpriced for no reason. There is no reason you can't eat the amount of calories you need through food. Since I've started working out about 4yrs ago I've put on 65lbs, most of which is muscle. Went from 120lbs to 160lbs in about 1 yr.

Way back when i was real small I was desperate to gain weight, had gotten my first job and was anxious to solve this problem. Went to my local GNC and told them I wanted to gain weight. So there is a lady there, she calls her manager on the phone and explains to him that i'm a male that wants to gain weight. He's on speaker phone the entire time saying "He needs some vitamins with out iron, he'll put on lots of weight and get a mass gainer" I fell victim to that !!, needless to say i didn't gain nothing. At that time i wasn't a nurse yet and was pretty naive when it came to taking advice.

All I'm trying to say is, you should focus on eating first then maybe later use a "mass gainer".

Hope this helps you. Sorry for the rant...

You weren't sold false information, you !!ed up yourself by not doing your own research. Mass gainers are good for additional calories, but don't for one second think it's a food replacement.

Eat food and use the mass gainer as a drink on the side. I'll be doing this come winter time, the come February I'll cut again.

At that time I just ate what ever I came across. Essentially my diet consisted of high carbs(rice) and a moderate amount of protein. Daily, I was probably getting much less than 1g protein/lb. I did use a protein shake every morning and if i can remember right at night. I also ate alot of peanuts.

Honestly when i put on that weight my diet was extremely poor, but i still made alot of gains. Needless to say eventually the gains slowed down and I had to fix my diet.

As for my workouts, I initially was doing more isolated movements and doing the compound exercises at the end of my workout. But once again, my diet and workout routine sucked at that point but it worked. What I found to be almost as important as lifting was never allowing myself to get hungry. I would eat literally every 3hours while awake. Had it timed and everything and I still continue to do that. Most important thing is listen to YOUR body and you will learn whats best.

You are right I should have done my research at that point, but i still feel like they led me in the wrong direction just trying to make a sale.

I still don't think anyone needs a "mass gainer" for anything, even as a drink on the side. But hey we are entitled to out opinions i suppose. Just my 2 cents. [pic]

Depends on what you get

Russian Bear IMO is the best deal and the most effective on the market. You have to mix 5 scoops with a gallon of milk. This allows you to take it as a meal replacement and sip throughout the day and drink heavy pre and post workout.

Russian bear offers the most convenient way to gain. Like I said I achieve EPIC results with this stuff and I sip throughout the day because drinking a gallon of milk a day is hard for me.

Not to mention it tastes like something made at starbucks

One jug = 5 lbs of weight gained at $24

and here's the rest of the math:

8 oz of Milk
1/4 scoop with 8 oz of 0% milk =215 Calories/ 20gm Protein/ 32gm Carbs
1/2 scoop with 8oz of 0% milk= 345 Calories/ 28gm Protein/52gm Carbs
3/4 scoop with 8oz of 0% milk= 475 Calories/37gm Protein/72gm Carbs
1 scoop with 8oz of 0% milk= 605
Calories /46 gm Protein/92gm Carbs

16 oz of Milk
1/4 scoop with 8 oz of 0% milk=300 Calories/28Gm Protein/44gm Carbs
1/2 scoop with 8oz of 0% milk= 430 Calories/ 6Gm Protein/64gm Carbs
3/4 scoop with 8oz of 0% milk= 560 Calories/45Gm Protein/84gm Carbs
1 scoop with 8oz of 0% milk= 690 Calories / 54 Gm Protein/ 104gm Carbs
