EDIT:
on the site it says you fast for 8 hours.....workout...eat basically a hugh meal to hit your caloric intake and then fast for another 8 hour
so basically the only time you eat is after your workout???
so is this a cut or a bulk |
I don't think there is an official IF thread on Boxden. You're intended to work out fasted (usually only taking a BCAA pre-workout) and afterwards you have your biggest meal of the day. After that, you eat whatever you need to eat to get your macros in for the day. You have an eating window, most people it's 8 hours, some people do 6 hours and some even go as far as 4 hours. You determine your eating window and when it's most convenient for you to start and break your fast. I do IF while eating a low-moderate carb diet. I eat my first meal at 2pm, workout at 5pm and eat until 8pm. After 8pm I don't eat anymore until 2pm the next day. I don't work out fasted but it hasn't stopped me from losing weight in a timely manner (dropped 10 pounds this month). The broscience behind it is basically when you do IF, your body spends less time digesting food (because you're only eating for 4,6 or 8 hours) and more time burning fat. There's also the fact that your body produces more HGH when you're fasted but I don't think that's relevant at all because it probably plays little to no affect.
But people do live by IF, and have gotten great gains from doing it while staying lean. I would say if you're interested, when it's time to cut weight, give IF a try and once you're ready to bulk again, then bulk but do it with IF.
IF isn't exclusive to bulking or cutting. You can build muscle and stay lean[..]uming your caloric intake while bulking isn't too high and that you're consuming all your macros to build muscle. It isn't a diet, just an eating schedule.
