| Supplement Suggestions |
| By fresno - 06-01-2012, 10:51 PM - Boxden > The BX Gym - Health, Exercise, and Nutrition In the past, the closest i've come to taking supplements was just eating and drinking right so beyond looking up the general info i'd appreciate if someone can push me in the right direction of what i should start with... i'm 27 and up until this year i was always in pretty good shape, around 165-170lb's (i'm 5'11).. im all the way up to 185-190 and it's def time to make some changes and get back into working out before it gets out of hand... i was thinking about taking creatine and whey protein while obviously eating and drinking better while doing a cycle of p90x until i move and can join a gym... i was thinking something like these Universal-Creatine-Chews-Grape-144-Count Amazon.com: Universal Creatine Chews, Grape Flavor, 144-Count: Health & Personal Care Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard - Double Chocolate Amazon.com: Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard, Double Rich Chocolate 2 Pound: Health & Personal Care I've heard so many different variations of taking them but with the little bit of research i've done so far i was going to do something simple like this to start out... 5g of Creatine & Whey Protein after working out Would that be good to start out with? Any suggestions would def be appreciated.. I'm still taking this all in so my knowledge on it all is still pretty simple at this point... My biggest hurdle is that im a recording engineer/producer so my hours are odd and many times last through the night so it's nearly impossible to make an exact daily routine but i can get close if i work out later at night... What I want to accomplish is losing the little bit of fat i got, gain some muscle and get toned.. im not looking for any miraculous results.. money is a little tight until i get moved but i def want to get something going... |

| Too much for a protein. Find something that;s around $25-35 for a 5# bag. Pay less for creatine. Bulk in bulk. Look up Creapure. | |

| Man I'm about 5"11-6"0 same age can't remember being 165 maybe since hs lol. Crazy to gain 20-25pounds off bad diet in about a year. If your on P-90x I'm[..]uming they give you a diet guide long as your getting a healthy dose of complex carbs before you start a session and maintain a gallon of water a day you should be good. I don't know the P90x system but seems like it's real high in cardio if your not in the gym pushing weights your supplement stack shouldn't be big at all. This what I imagine a typical person gets from a p90x [pic] No huge muscle gains do to the high intensity cardio from the sessions since your burning muscle and fats at the same time. I'd suggest you take the unofficial essentials Creatine: 10g a day (with a gallon of water a day minimum) AM hours when you awake 5g / 5G few hours before bed on off days If you doing workouts in the morning AM Hours wait until post workout to take the creatine and another dose in the PM hours(I'd suggest powder form and buy in bulk size it's very cheap) Brand I used recently was prolab creatine monohydrate from 1. 1000g for $22.99 last long time PROTEIN: I agree to much for the protein walmart has 2lb whey protein for 14.98 my gym 24 hr fitness has a sale for musclemilk for 19.99 for 2.47 lb or do more search for value it's gonna be protein end of the day 2.91 pounds + Free Shipping + No Sales Tax $25.29 ___________________ The Protein has "BCAA" for recovery and considering you schedule wouldn't invest in them since you probably will give yourself a lot more off days for rest - Throw in a multi vitamin like Animal Pak when your money is right - Udo Oil when your money gets right research the product print, youtube, ect great supp for healthy fats if you plan on getting your diet right. It's a simple formula really diet, exercise, and sleep if you can afford the essentials (food) and your serious about results cut out the bad drinks, sugar filled drinks (orange juice) stick to water (cheap not a budget issue) | |

| i thought i subscribed to this thread but i guess not.. thanks for the replies! about p90x.. it's def more cardio and not as muscle gaining as i'd like but what i was thinking about doing until i move (another 3-4 months).. was about a month or so into p90x, once my body gets back into workout mode was to add a second 30 or so minute workout 4-5 days a week where i'd do all weight lifting as well in correspondence to the area i was going to work on with p90x in that same day... for Creatine i was thinking of going with this, its about the same cost/amount of the one you posted and seems like a solid brand... for the protein i'll go take a look tomorrow and see if i can find that same 2 pound for 15$ deal.. the one you posted is only that price on amazon if you subscribe to it as well but if the walmart deal isnt there.. what about this on amazon? i actually was going to get the opti-men multi's and some omega 3 as well but looking at that animal pak would i be better off going with just that for now and add some omege 3 in a month or so? a little expensive but what caught my eye is not only everything that's included in the pills but a lot of people say they have a huge jump in energy which i could def use as well especially if i end up doing some 2 a days along with everything else in a normal day... one last thing, you're the third person that's told me about udo's oil.. would you recommend that over a quality capsule version? thanks again for taking the time to help me out, i've def learned quite abit the last couple of weeks and it's kind of overbearing haha | |

still don't buy it your not understand the logic of saving money for the same results... you would pay $21.20 for a 2pound tub of protein VS 1. going to walmart and paying 14.98 for 2lb tub or 2. going to link I sent and paying 25 and change for a subscribe and save tub where you essentially get close to almost a pound extra for about 4 bucks vs what your trying to tell yourself you like. You can cancel subscribe and save once your order is placed, or set delivery every 3-6 months so your not charged so often OR skip next delivery monthly and not be charged at all until your ready. ----------- Yes I'd go with udo's over any pill just store it correctly kept in orig box, refrig, and shake before use (1table spoon each serving) ---- If I buy creatine I'd want it to have Creapture in it gets a lot of good reviews look for prolab or beast creatine it's the same price man of what your posting especially prolab make protein first on your list and vitamins and rest last

i ended up going with the walmart protein, prolab creatine and then the animal pak and it all seems to be going good even though im only 3 days in... they sent some d-stunner sample packs and that !! had me on another level today haha i might end up grabbing some of that as well now along with udo's in a week or two... thanks for the all help to get me started, that along with alot of googling and looking around has me much more educated then a few weeks ago...
