I am out of shape and need to exercise, I REALLY DO. But when you first wake up do you workout first then eat or eat first then burn it off?

Really you should eat before AND after. You need energy from the food while you lift but once you leave your muscles are burnt out so you need more food to replenish your energy and help your muscle repair themselves.

When I first got back into working out I would eat something small before my workout. Now that I've been back in gear for a while I train fasted and get all my calories after workout

It really doesn't matter either way. The main thing is calories in vs calories out. Which ever one feels better to you is what you should do.

I personally feel like if I do fasted LISS cardio(brisk walking) first thing in the morning I see the best fat loss. But that's just me and probably more of a mental thing.

Same with weight training for me also. I do intermittent fasting most of the time now and I feel like absolute sh*t if I eat before i train now.

I say after... I think thats when I lost the most weight was when I didnt eat before exercise...

In the Marines that's what we had to do... Wake up at 4 or 5 am and go for a 3-6 mile run...
And we didnt have a thing before the run...

Got in shape super quick like that... Always felt if you eat before a run your gonna feel bloated or not as good as when your on an empty stomach...

It really depends on what your goals are....you trying to lose or gain weight? If your trying to lose weight then listen to what bibbyboi posted.

Weight loss is mainly about what you eat.....like he said calories in vs calories out.

I don't eat before, but I do get as much protein as I can afterward. I did notice when I ate before, I had a ton more energy than I usually do.

I always workout in a fasted state, my focus and intensity are out of this world especially on a PWO...15-minutes before my workout I do have 10g of BCAA(scoop of Amino-X) I make a little 4 oz shot out of it.

I have a shake immediately after, then about 30-minutes after eat.

If you wait til after, you will eat less because you will not be as hungry. Will help you lose faster. Eat a high protein meal.

I train on a completely empty stomach. I go out and run while being fasted for 16-17 hours usually. I feel the best when I am on an empty stomach. I feel stronger with more energy and I am quicker all around.

If I'm doing heavy lifting, I at least drink a protein shake before I work out. I've tried heavy lifting on an empty stomach and just felt too weak and agitated.

I've done cardio on an empty stomach and really had no problem with it though.

I think every person is different, try both and see what works out best for you.
