School me on creatine

 School me on creatine

Can someone give me the pros and cons of taking creatine? I'm trying to get a lil bigger but still stay lean. Practically, I want to look like a slightly bigger version of Bruce Lee. I already do physical activities on the daily so I'm pretty fit. Right now I'm 5'7" around 153lbs. Just the past year alone, I went up from 120lbs.

Because I'm naturally skinny, I still have that skinny body lean frame so I'd like to look a little more swole when I'm wearing clothes. I'm already cut as !! aside from my mid-section but that's because my diet isn't really on point.

I've heard good things about creatine but one thing that concerns me is the bloating and how it makes you fat (because it's water weight) when you get off it. Does anyone have recommendations as to what creatine pills to take? I've never tried the powder form before but personally, I'd rather just take pills instead (not a big fan of shakes). Tips are appreciated.

Spend your extra ca$h on gym membership, food, equipment, etc.

people bloat on creatine because they don't know how to use it. 5g a day is all you should need.

People bloat on creatine because you draw water into your muscles which creates a more anabolic effect in the muscle due to increased protein synthesis. Regardless of how much you take you will retain water

started back on creatine after years off of it... people say loading is unnecessary, but I've been doing it anyway just in case the past 3 days, and boy, I feel and look great.

bigd is spot on regarding the benefits of creatine supplementation. It also allows you to workout longer, push out more reps due to its ability to buffer the lactic acid.

Also, loading is not necessary for creatine consumption, but there are studies that show using a loading phase for creatine can increase peak creatine stores in the muscle faster than without the loading phase. This won't increase overall creatine in the muscle, but rather get you to that peak level faster.

Take creatine with a fast digesting carbohydrate like dextrose or another sugary drink. This will up glucose levels in the blood, therefor increasing insulin secretion into the blood which helps transport creatine into the muscle. This is best to do right after a workout because the glycogen, stored form of glucose, has been used up during bouts of weightlifting and running due the your body metabolizing them to produce energy. Taking dextrose during the a day when you don't lift could mean that your body stores that carb as fat.

On non lifting days I suggest taking your creatine after a meal. Studies show that taking a moderate amount of carbohydrates and protein will also increase creatine uptake into the muscle, so you don't need to take a crazy amount of carbohydrates on days you don't really need them

Meat naturally contains creatine. If you work out and eat natural protein you get your creatine gain.

Yeah totally, all you need to do is consume like 2 pounds of red meat a day to get 3 to 5 grams of creatine. If you want to do a loading phase though you might as well just go be a whole cow to get your 10 pounds of red meat in a day which will contain about 20 grams of creatine

obviously. im saying loading heavy on creatine gives people that bloat/puffy look. i take 5g preworkout/post-workout and just 5g on rest days...still shredded. at the end of the day though nutrition > train > recover > repeat > supplements

On a cold Friday afternoon, I had come home from school. I had been thinking of the gym all day. I was hungry, didn't have any lunch. In fact, I didn't eat because I spent the money. For the past month I was saving up for something. Something special which I bought at GNC. I was surprised they didn't ask for ID; I was pretty sure the cashier noticed how nervous I was. Anyways, my mom asked my how my day was when I got home, but I ignored her. I have more important things to do. I run to the bathroom and unpack my bag. In my school bag is a white plastic bag from GNC. I open the bag, first removing the receipt and flushing it down the toilet to get rid of the evidence. My heart was racing now. I unpack the creatine monster from the bag.

I wonder what people will be asking me when they see that I will be 50lbs heavier. Should I say I was just eating a lot? I remove the label from the tub and tear it into a thousand small pieces. I flush that down the toilet, too. It is time now. I run up to my room when my mom ask me what I am holding. I panic, sweat drips down my forehead and my teeth chatter. "Mom, it's just for a school project". "What project?" "I don't know mom I just started it!". A tear runs down my cheek. I run upstairs and open the creatine, scooping upservings into a clear water bottle. What have I gotten myself into? I fill it with water and drink it. There is no turning back now. The creatine monster is inside me now, it will control me. What should I do if I die? I cant let my family know about this.

I open the creatine tub and throw it all out the window; a white cloud of mysterious dust sparkles into the wind so graciously. I feel the substance taking control of me; I am now the monster. I walk downstairs, its time to work out; time to get big. Now I worry, I don't want to get too big; people will think I use steroids. I do use steroids. No I don't. Creatine. All I see is the weights now, I am almost downstairs when I hear "Do you want a cookie I just baked". I know I do not have time for this **** now. "No mom I do not want a cookie" I walk in the basement and drop to my knees before the weights, tears running down my cheeks. I turn to the right and look at myself in the mirror. Oh god, what have I done?

Creatine is cheap, safe, and effective.

Who cares about a loading phase. I usually have like 10-20g a day.

Does creatine contain any calories? No.
You will not gain any body fat.

Creatine improves endurance capacity.
