| Is it ok to work out twice a day? |
| By Razer - 08-06-2012, 06:06 PM - Boxden > The BX Gym - Health, Exercise, and Nutrition Idk why I have been fiening to work out twice a day 1pm-3pm or 1pm-4pm is the time I usually work out I am tired as hell when I finished. Around 7pm or 8pm I want to hit the gym again and work on the same muscle. I want to know if this is alright? what are your suggestions? |

| Sure. Why not? I do two a days now in the summer; feels great. I must say that I compliment it with enough rest (6.5-8 hrs of rest) Go for it man. | |

| Why not? As long as you're not tired and have motivation, do it. Just make sure not to overtrain and get plenty of rest. | |

you tired as hell after a 2/3 hour block of rime your at the gym and your TIRED AS HELL? Wouldn't be smart at all to go HAM on the same muscle group that got you tired a hell hours later in the same day. Cook a meal, bang your old lady, relax, recover you earned it...

| If you're working out to different areas of the body (one workout is lifting and the other is cardio) then yea but if you're working out the same area then no because you're not allowing ur body the proper time to rest and rebuild your muscles | |

| depends on what you are working out for? Build muscle? You should hit that muscle group hard and then let it heal for 48 hours atleast before hitting that muscle group again. So if you go at 1PM and do bench press, and then go back at 8PM and do flys, your fooking up my dude. Your body starts the healing building bigger process, and then you go redamage them. Now if your not trying to build muscle, this isnt such a big deal. Your best choice is like someone else said, to either work different muscle groups ex. ABS at 1PM and CHEST at 8PM. or do cardio at 1PM and do your weight training at 8PM. also, 3 hours in the gym is team overtrain. Cut that !! out, thats too much time. Any more than an hour and your limiting your gains when it comes to building muscle. Sometimes less is more. Think of a bell curve, and put time at the bottom and and muscle growth on the side. there is a sweet spot, and then there is too little and too much. 1 hour is said to be the sweet spot. I understand everyones different, but unless your training for the olympics, and are eating ma#sive ammounts of calories, and getting !! loads of sleep, and maybe even supplementing with steroids, 3 hours is way too much homie. If your trying to cut weight and doing lots of cardio, then you can do the gym for 3 hours if you want, but you better be keepung it low to medium intensity, otherwise your going to have cortisol flowing all through your body, stopping all kinds of gains lol. | |

| The reason is that I follow Kris Gethin 12 week transformation exactly how it directs me the only difference is the diet & and the usage of supplements | |

| Sure, if you're on steroids, go right back in there, same day, and hit that muscle group again. | |

| Honestly I'd suggest switching up your routine. Try doing 6 x 6's or something with heavier weight. Are you sore the next day? If so then you know you're doing enough work. If you wanting to get back working out around 7-8 then do some mad cardio or some pylometrics. No need to hit the weights on the same muscle groups again in the same day. If you want to work a different set of muscles, then just take the next day off. You have to let your muscles rest to rebuild. | |

| not gonna lie, I used to work the same body parts 2x a day but stopped doing it. I find when you let your body rest, personally I see better results. I'm pretty active so I used to go 5-6 times a week. Now I cut it down to 4 times a week. | |

You can also try doing each exercise slower. Like force yourself to go slow on each rep. On a flat bench, count to 4 as you go down. Then count to 4 as you go back up. You can also super-set each exercise with pushups. So you do 3 sets of pushups in between 3 sets of, lets say, dumbell curls. Do different types of pushups or crunches too. I mean if you're young your body will probably repair quicker anyway. But I'd say switching up your routine with heavier weight and adding 20 min of hard cardio after each workout and you'll feel it for sure.
