No one here Crossfits?

 No one here Crossfits?
By niceguy954 - 05-21-2012, 06:22 AM - Boxden > The BX Gym - Health, Exercise, and Nutrition

I have been doing Crossfit for 2 months now. My strength has increase rapidly. I feel great being able to power clean and snatch heavy now. I[..]ume BX people don't do it because of the prices per gym. ($150-170 monthly) I barley know the minorities that go to this gym. You endurance vastly improves. Went to La fitness to work out last week. Went ham didn't even realize I was in their for almost 2 hours.

not a fan but only because there's a lot of crossfit trainers that don't emphasize form or common sense to their amateur clients. on the other hand i've met crossfitters that actually know the right way to train to avoid injury.

also i think kipping pullups are silly and the paleo diet is a sham.

I think crossfit is dangerous for 80% of the population. I have never gone to a crossfit gym, however when I see clips online I am not impressed. Olympic lifts are form 1st, poundage second. They can take years to develop almost perfect from. I see to many Crossfitters doing Olympic lifts with terrible form and doing them at speed for high reps. This is a a setup for injury.
I know old heads that have been lifting traditionally for 20 plus years and they are in great shape.
I want to see if someone can do Crossfit for ten years and survive. I guess only time will tell.

This is something I might look into down the road. I know some people that do it and they look great from it. I can't say I know too much about it though, other than it's intense.

At the moment strength training is slowing down for me but I'm still making gains, transforming my body, and having a lot of fun doing it... so no need to switch it up... yet.

Crossfit = circuit training with poor form. no thanks. plus, everyone I talk to that does crossfit acts like such an elitist when it comes to training. huge put-off for me, can't stand being around negative people like that

i like it alot. i think it the fact that it pushes me more than anything ive done workout/exercise wise. i run long distance so this helps me build muscle/toned instead of just being skinnyish

My thing is that it's cool if you are training for a sport or something but as far as just getting fit and looking good its a bit of overkill imo.

Also if you look at the people running it, usually they aren't what I am shooting to look like, and if they are they had been or are doing heavy weight training for years before doing crossfit.

I do like the muscle ups and things like that though and am trying to add things like that into my workouts now.

as others have stated. majority of crossfit 'trainers' could care less about form and just advertise getting from point A to point B in any fashion possible.
i prefer weight training and taking my time on every rep, ill throw in a day of plyometrics weekly and sports a couple times a week to keep my cardio up.

good gyms forces you to do a 2-4 training session that teaches you just form with no weights. (I had to go to only once since I knew most) Before you even start

good gyms are suppose to stop your when you doing it with horrible form so you won't hurt yourself. I have dreams of my instrutcor yelling at me behind me saying "do it over bad form. Drop the weight if you can't do it with better form"[pic]

Some workouts are just for speed and form is not enforce. However weights are very light. (can't wreck your self power cleaning 85lbs)

Kipping on pullups is enforced per gym. My gym doesn't count it as a pullup

paleo diet..i aint with it either..

We do act like elitest sometimes because our workouts are never the same and their !!ing INTENSE!!! I got army rangers gasping for air at my local gym

I dont do it because I cant see myself spending that much money for such a simple thing. I get plenty of exercise between occasional cardio and weight training. To really do well at crossfit you need to have to either do years of it or have previously weight trained for years and already have very strong lifts to really do well at it.
