| By Grown Man Ish - 09-16-2012, 07:30 AM - Boxden > The BX Gym - Health, Exercise, and Nutrition I wake up around 11......dont eat breakfast, go out about 1pm, come back at around 9/10pm im never hungry in the day, plus i prefer eating in peace when im relaxed, eating in the day means, eating while im on the go somewhere, or while im around people..... i'll eat something, like an apple or candy or some !!, just to keep me going..... but then i'll get home, still not be hungry maybe drink a beer, and eat something at like 12am-1am go to bed at like 2..... im not fat or nothing, and about 2-3 hours of the day im walking and sometimes go for a run... any advice i look for, is for people that have a regular schedule, which mine def isnt.... i just feel like, my body could be doing better things than digesting food at night, like repairing/rebuilding etc... |

| If you gotta eat at night eat super light or fruit. Honestly you gotta figure out how to make time. | |

| What's wrong with eating at night? Your body doesn't care. In fact there has been some recent research that suggests eating larger meals later has a positive effect. That little bit of food you do finally eat is actually helping with reparing and rebuilding, along with getting enough quality sleep of course. | |

| I eat a big breakfast and pretty good throughout the day. I'm trying to get big and strong. Also, I lift at night, so I do some late night eating time to time. Nothing wrong with it if you can control it and know what you're doing (i.e. over-eating). Now, if you're cutting, it might be a different story. A lot probably depends on your metabolism too, and what you're eating as well. Correct me if I'm wrong here. | |

| I would worry more about quality of food and eating the right foods then when you are eating. One thing I would add though if you are looking to lose weight is lay off the carbs on your last meal if you are going to Sleep right away since your using carbs for energy, no point in filling up the body with energy when you are going to sleep right away. | |

| Nutrient timing is irrelevant in terms of body composition. | |

Just take a look at Intermittent Fasting that has grown in popularity. The whole diet is based around nutrient timing.

I have an easier time doing IF, and feel a !! ton better doing it that way, but there are thousands of other people who have had awesome results from 6-8 small meals through out the day. I think the only thing we can definitively take away from IF so far is that nutrient timing isn't as important as we thought it was. Until there are more concrete studies that's all we can say about it.

| you're not going to stop eating at nite if u spend the 20 hours out the day not eating, especially if you're not drinking plenty water, so you're starving and dehydrated by bedtime. Nothing wrong with eating @ nite as long as u do it right. Since u only eat 1 meal it shouldnt be that hard for you to throw sum decent portions of RAW veggies and fruit in there to help you with digestion. DO NOT binge on meat/milk/bread, make u sum thick courses like spagehtti/pasta that will stick and you'll be alright, u don't have to worry about the carbs unless you're gorging on bullshyt like cheetos, pepsi, ice cream, pizza and fast food. Bake sum potatoes/sweet potatoes, make a salad, make a smoothie...etc.. | |

| The only reason people say don't eat carbs after 6pm or 7 or 9 or whatever is that you shouldn't eat them before you sleep. Carbs are energy that is either used during exercise or stored as fat. If you don't do something to burn it off, them it gets stored. Otherwise it doesn't matter at all when you eat. I have a crazy schedule as well and this knowledge has saved me a lot of stress. | |
