 Gatorade/Powerade > Water?

I just saw the gatorade commercial of what it contains etc and they say its better than water? is this true? i actually enjoy drinking gatorade/powerade for thrist but if its bad let me know ill stop it now.

any info is good thanks.

i'ts nothing special, you'll get just as much out of a glass of chocolate milk. don't underestimate the value of good hyrdration. what they are talking about in the commercial is after STRENUOUS activity you need to replenish your energy stores. Well the sugar in gatorade that is not present in water will do that.

i wouldn't advise drinking it before a serious workout... i tried it this summer during soccer and every game i cramped, even if i drank it a couple hours before

cuz today i was lifting weights and i drank two big powerade bottles and i could keep doing it longer the other day when i was drinking water it was "heh like every other day" so im'a stick to the power drinks.

sounds like more of a mental thing than anything... theres no way it could have digested fast enough to give you any boost if you drank it while you were working out

Gatorade/Powerade is only good if you are sweating for more than two and half hours other than that its hurting your kidneys an liver with all the extra Electrolytes. football players and basketball players should drink it while playing the game but not in the gym working out.

Sports drinks should not be used for non-professionals. Water helps more for them. But if you're a professional athlete, and do things that take a serious amount of energy, sports drinks help somehow. I read an article on it somewhere...

you lose your electrolytes in your sweat. when you sweat for an extended period of time your body gets depleted of electrolytes. sports drinks replenish them

if u just drink gatorade and powerade and not do any kinda workout with it all ur gonna do is have to p#ss a lot. those extra electrolytes that ur aren't using have to be released somehow...best bet: drink gatorade and drinks like that when doin a real hard workout but not just drink for the hell of it.
