| it's the artificial sweeteners are bad for you-many of them have been shown to cause diseases like cancer in tests. Then again that's in extremely large portions..Either way the "Chemicals" aren't good for you. | |

| I'll drink it from time to time to satisfy the cravings I have for something sweet. I find that it's easier for me to stay within my goals for cutting if I drink diet soda and maybe add something to my water for taste than it is to cut everything out. When I do that, I find there's alot more cheat days going on then there should be. | |

idk, i drink diet dr. pepper all the time...everything gives you cancer anyways, and its never really been proven that it causes cancer/disease anyways, just speculation. not drinking diet drinks, to me, is the equivalent to not using antiperspirants with aluminum in them because its possibly been linked to Alzheimers | ||

| The artificial sweeteners can cause brain damage. The other artificial ingredients can cause cancer. | |

| If you absolutely can't live without soda, then diet coke isn't going to k!ll you. But the artificial sweeteners are controversial (even though I use splenda instead of sugar, sue me). But soda is also bad for your teeth, just drinking water and drinks with less sugar is better for your overall health... | |

| the artificial sweeteners in diet sodas will still elicit an insulin spike and prevent you from entering a catabolic state (to burn fat). it will also leave you feeling hungrier than before because the sweet taste will trick your body into thinking that its going to get sugar (carbs) so your body releases insulin to break down these carbs, and when it the carbs aren't there, its going to want more and the craving for carbs will be stronger. | |

| Actually you are wrong according to the national cancer inst. people on bx make statements without doing any research so here is the facts according the NCI "# Is there an[..]ociation between artificial sweeteners and cancer? Questions about artificial sweeteners and cancer arose when early studies showed that cyclamate in combination with saccharin caused bladder cancer in laboratory animals. However, results from subsequent carcinogenicity studies (studies that examine whether a substance can cause cancer) on these sweeteners and other approved sweeteners have not provided clear evidence of an[..]ociation between artificial sweeteners and cancer in people." This means that according to NCI and the FDA it is safe for consumption and you are free to drink it when you are on a diet. When I was on a diet I drank it every day and lost 50 pounds. It is a lot easier to drink than water and you can also drink sparkling beverages with sweetner in them. When people say it is unsafe it is bc it has been show to cause cancer in mice. However, humans do not have the gene that lead to the development of the cancer and so it does not cause cancer in humans. Unlike most people on this site I have read the study and don't just talk out my[..]. Read the study if you think there is any link and keep in mind the study was done before the FDA approved it. This means that they looked at the study and the evidence that it was safe and decided that it was safe. If it turned out not to be safe you would have a major lawsuit on your hands my friends. So, yes you can drink diet sodas and beverages with sweetener because I have done it and lost weight. It is a myth and my father drinks it at least 2-3x a day and has no cancer at all and he is over 50.
