3rd base was tough as hell wasn't it? you might want to put doc gooden in that rotation

The lack of black players over the years has more to do with the accessibility of the sport in urban communities. Even if a kid is interested it's so much harder to get involved in compared to basketball. You have courts everywhere in the city but baseball fields are less common. Also the cost of equipment is something to think about.

cities will blacktop a court and put up 2 hoops in african america community before they put up a baseball field

Yeah, I decided a while back my kids futures were going to be in baseball. Although they will have the hoops genetics the money and longevity of baseball is too much to pass up. Plus, they would get more love for reviving black interest in baseball than being a star in the NBA.

!! teaching your kids to dunk or catch a pass. Getting their swings and hand/eye coordination down is where that money is for the new black athlete. Tennis, Golf and Baseball=The New Takeover.

Yeah 3rd was tough...and you right Doc needs to be in that rotation. Could probably swap him with Richard. Not a knock on Richard though, my uncle used to tell me stories of how good a pitcher he was...lefty who could throw 100...too bad he had that stroke, he had a sub 2 ERA going that year. Filling out the rotation was almost as tough as deciding what to do with the 3b spot.

Yeah I know he didn't play that much 3b, but I just couldn't justify putting Pendleton in a line-up filled with damn near all hall of famers. Plus Jackie was a superb athlete, I think he could of handled playing 3b full time with no problems.[pic]
