Wasnt really about the play being legal or not, its more about him being to get there at the age of 36. If you freeze it, his hand was at the top of the square, head was at the rim pretty much. Dude was a damn olympic class high jumper at 7+ feet tall........ !! is scary.

Imagine him in todays game, with that natural ability and his competitive (Dude damn near put on a jersey, and stormed the court when one of his records got broken during an all star game once lol!) nature coupled with scientific advances/sports sciences that aid todays athletes.

A lot of people don't realize that wilt was athletic as hell and was a very underrated passer too.

Dominance of Shaq.
Athleticism of Howard.
Skill set of Divac (checking his passing stats).
Competition of Mike Tyson (other than Bill Russell).

Wilt was the perfect storm. Athletically superior in every way for his time and up against a competition level that just couldn't match him in any way except heart.

LOL at shaq in that era

shaq been a bum since he was 32 years old going from team to team stealing money

but i guess 14.5 ppg and 7 rebounds a game average in the last 8 years of your career in the league is "dominant" right ?

get some knowledge before u speak in a wilt thread

wilt coulda scored 35 and 18

when he was 50 if he wanted to , they were begging him to comeback

Ignoring the amount of ludicrous comments in this thread, I'll just say that the 100pt game video won't surface because there were only like 600 people in attendance or something.

head-to-head numbers:
Wilt and Russell played against each other 142 times in 10 years. Russell's team won 88, Wilt's teams won 74. (14 game difference)

In those games Wilt averaged 28.7 ppg and 28.7 rpg, Russell averaged 14.5ppg and 23.7rpg

Wilt's high game vs. Russell was 62, and he had six other 50+ point games against Russell . Russell's high game against Wilt was 37, and he had only two other 30+ point games against Wilt.

Wilt's record 55 rebound game was against Russell, and he had six other 40+ rebound games vs. Bill.
Russell only had one 40+ rebound night against Wilt.[pic]

Overall Russell was def on the better teams, no one would argue that so maybe that led to his lower numbers, playing with other HOF's.

I heard a coach for an NBA team from the 60's-70's on the radio the other day and he said they are #1-2 all time no doubt, way ahead of everyone else. Russo from Mad Dog radio asked him if MJ was #3 and he said "Yeah, I'd probably put MJ #3.

But gettin back to it, I think the night Russell was drafted the C's also drafted 2 other future HOF's so you know what Wilt had to put up with all those years. But theres no doubt about it Russell was a winner all day being he won 2 NCAA championships along with his 11 NBA rings.

People need to take the 100 pt game in context though. That year teams averaged 118.8 ppg. Wilts 6ers avg 125 ppg. He avg 50.4 ppg that season himself. The league also only had 10 teams so Wilt was dogging the same 9 ninjas 7-12 games each.

Wilt was by far the best scorer in NBA history but he did play in an era where scoring was way high.
