I seriously doubt you'll see very many of those guys with a year or two left on their contract amnestied (if they're not making over 10 mil). Their expiring contract becomes an[..]et once it's in the final season. And the fact that owners can use the amnesty once in the next six years, using it in the first year on a marginal player with a slightly above average contract would be a mistake.

I'd definitely save it for down the road because teams will always overpay players and it's a get out of jail almost free card.

You only get to use this clause ONCE during the new CBA deal. So teams better use it wisely and not just use it to dump some middle of the pack bad contract.
